What a great show! I've seen King's X 17 or 18 times since 1990 and they never disappoint! This show was notable for them playing three songs from Gretchen Goes to Nebraska: Summerland, Pleiades and Mission. Everyone should go see King's X before they finally put their instruments down for good because they are one of the best rock bands in the history of music. It will be worth your time and money!
Sleep Theory and Beartooth! So much fun. My husband is in a wheelchair and the event staff were so helpful and courteous. They made sure he had a place where he could see the stage and helped him maneuver through the crowds easily. 10/10 will see more shows at the Orange Peel and will DEFINITELY try to see Beartooth again!
I took my girlfriend out to see this band off of a couple of songs I had been hearing on playlists while driving across the US. We were blown away by the quality and overall vibe of the band. It was such a great show and performance. We had no idea we were going to dance as hard as we did. Thoroughly impressed and we are both now big fans of Hiss Golden Messenger. Don’t sleep on this band live and their music. It is good vibes all around!
As always, King's X ROCKS!!! From the opening three songs - Groove Machine, World Around Me and Pillow - it was in your face jam! Packing 17 songs into 90 minutes was impressive. Dug didn't talk as much as usual so that may have influenced the length of the show. They were all business and business was good! The five songs off the new album sounded great and King was a nice surprise. Notably absent was Over My Head. I've seen them about 15+ times and it's the first time I haven't seen them play that. But I'm not complaining because they were awesome as always! I hope they come back around soon!
The concert was a little over 90 minutes of leaving 110% of leaving yourself on stage with nonstop energy doing everything everyone wanted to hear and the packed Orange Peel showed their love and sang along with every word. Great spirit. Great night of music. The mystery of “who the F*** is Declan McKenna was answered last night in spades!
I had one of the best nights of my entire life! I’ve been anticipating for Betty to go on tour again and hoping she’s come back to North Carolina. Made the trip to go to Asheville for the first time to not only enjoy the city but of course to see Betty! As a day one fan (or member of the Who Crew if you will) it’s insane that this is my very first time meeting her properly in person! She knows who I am, she said that we’re besties?! (WHAT???!) The show was incredible. Shea Coulée the opener did the damn thing and slayed as I knew she would. Betty was fantastic!! And this was my first show of her’s in years! I truly enjoyed myself, my friends who I invited with had a fun time, I even got one of them hooked on Betty! Hope to have Betty back in North Carolina again someday! Trust and believe I will be at a future show ☺️
Holy 💩! I witnessed one of those shows in my life that will impact my eternity!
Anyone who found anything to complain about, spends they life looking for something to gripe about .
Real Musicians, Real Instruments, no flashy stage show ( except all three playing their instruments)…
Mr. Mike… Mr. Billy and Mr. Ritchie , Thank you!
I bought the VIP package for the show! I got a chance to meet the band! The band mates themselves are genuine guys! They were very humble and stoked to meet their fans! They signed my War and Peace Deluxe Edition book. They put on an EPIC show for us! They performed 19 songs! Never will forget this concert! First time seeing them live and hopefully not the last!
Incredible. Sierra is one of the most talented artists I’ve ever seen. The openers, Resonant Rogues were delightful, definitely hope to see them again. And I cannot sing Sierra’s praises enough. Absolutely loved the classic one-mic portion of the show. Sierra is a fine fiddler and a stellar songwriter. Definitely have more of her shows on my calendar!
Great show…..although Mercury Rev bowed out at the last minute. Orange Peel is a great venue, BJM sounded great even if there was a long pause between songs for them to get a different guitar or tune or whatever. I’ve wanted to see them for a long time now & so happy I did. I even met Anton.
This was my first time seeing LP live and also my 1st time being at The Orange Peel. I was blown away. Being close enough to the stage and being able to see her perform 10-15 feet away from me, definitely made the entire experience even more amazing. I'm grateful I lived to see that.
BEST concert of my life! I am 61 and my 34 year old daughter took me to another state to see him because I love this man and his music. Voice and lyrics but also his spirit. There was every age, race and type of person possible at this concert and each one was totally entertained. Most were singing. Laughter, tears and all your feelings. I made friends with people on both sides of us and my daughter wants to travel again as soon as he is singing somewhere that is not sold. Our venue was a perfect, friendly place. ANYONE can go see him and will have a new favorite artist. He is more than a musical artist and shares that freely.
Charli XCX played at the maybe smallest venue i’ve ever been to, so much so that she couldn’t even build her full set and had to reduce her staging. Even with that, she was one of the most electrifying and exciting live performers i’ve ever seen. XCX has an extensive and eclectic discography that is all great, her latest “Crash” included. The way she weaves through her latest album with some of her quarantine album, some hits, and closing with some fan favorites was absolutely genius. From the time she stepped onto the stage until the last second she was on, the energy was so hype. Being her first time she’s dabbled with choreo, you couldn’t even tell. She’s always been fun to see live but I feel like she’s continually grown as a performer. I feel like such a proud fan. Also, the crowd interaction was amazing which is always a major plus. THANK YOU CHARLI <3
Lyle Lovett and His Acoustic Band were simply fantastic. Top-notch musicians and singers all around. Lyle started with a jazzy number accompanied only by his excellent bass player, something akin to what Tom Waits would do. Lovett filled the evening with a mix of bluegrass, country, blues, jazz, emotive ballads, and witty/funny dialogues.
Surprisingly, the quiet ballads "Nobody Knows Me" and "North Dakota" were the most emotionally powerful songs. I did not expect to choke back tears at this show, but these two songs were so moving that I couldn't help it. He's a gifted singer, and could give Al Green some competition if he ever wanted to go the soul music route.
Go see him if you can. You'll be glad you did. Jack Turner
The concert was EVERYTHING! Jamilah Woods, the opening act, and her band were amazing! I’d never heard of her before, but quickly downloaded both of her albums after the show! DJ DUGGZ had the crowd jumping with good old school music. Then the man of the hour came on and did not disappoint. His band was on point and Raphael Saadiq’s voice is still as smooth as it was back in his Tony! Toni! Toné! days! I wish he could’ve performed every song he’s ever written, that’s just how good the show was. I would definitely see him in concert again and again!
I Have been to see Whiskey Myers 6 times in Concert including the show at the Orange Peel on December 7th 2019 in Asheville North Carolina each time they have gotten Better and this one was by far the Best one I’ve been to they played a lot of the older Music Plus a Hell of a lot off of there new Album called (WHISKEY MYERS) which I think is the Best Album they have put out so far I can’t wait to see them somewhere in 2020 They Are No Doubt The Best Band With The Best Music Out Touring Today Keep Rockin
The sound mixing was horrible, as her in Atlanta and she was terrific but at the Orange peal all you heard mist if the time was the band and lots of reverb. She was awesome but could hardly hear her I've the band alot of the time .The keyboard player outraged her most if the night and needs to the it down or be replaced. She only played for 50 minutes as a main act wich in my book is unacceptable and should have been at least 1 1/2 hours wich is the norm and expected as many people stood around chanting oncore oncore. All that being said, she's a great talent and everyone needs,to get out and see her live
Its been to long for this Epic Band to return to US soil and bring us a fantastic show. Hate performed a great show and even though I wished they were in front of Incantation; so they could play more songs, I have to give them 5 Stars. Just my opinion Hate plays and sounds better than Incantation by far.
Amazing show. RS rocked the place. I would definitely see them again. Jay Buchanan is a vocal force that puts every ounce of soul into his performances. Scott Holidays guitar presence accents Buchanan perfectly. Throw in Miley’s masterful drum work and the result is an all out assault of sound and melody. It amazes me how RS has been around as long as they have and are not very well known. Maybe it’s a good thing because this band has made some of the best rock music of the past decade and like fine wine, are only getting better with age. For the sake of success, I would love to see RS get what they more than deserve. For the love of their music I worry with increased success could bring a commercial sound that is not at all what this band truly represents. As for the venue, The Orange Peel is a wonderfully intimate setting. It is very small but boasts some of the best acoustics I have ever heard. I was right up front and still the sound quality was amazing. Great lighting put the cherry on top of a fantastic overall experience. This was my first visit to this venue and I would highly recommend seeing a show there. I will be back the moment it hosts another act I am interested in seeing.
One of the best shows I've been to. Up in the front against the rail for the whole show. Neck still sore from headbanging. So thankful I got to see them one more time with Phil and Dave. The best band ever in my book and the greatest live band out today hands down
