Now I do a real review. I knew what I was in for, listening to you on social media and YouTube. I was expecting a copy cat version of SRV and Hendrix but what I got was the ENERGY and ELECTRICITY of those artists, but I also got the soulful blues side of you and your own authenticity of a style that reminds us of the former artists, but done in your own style which I have to add may even be better, I think I like your style even more than SRV and Hendrix., You have a mix of music that adds to the appeal, and I love your attitude and charisma on stage. You are just fabulous. I hope these words are heard the way I intend. You absolutely rocked every song, although I am not familiar with them. When I hear a song like "The Whiskey Made Me Do It,' IMMEDIATELY I love the song. That is how it works for some of us . Here's a song; you either hate or love it. I love it. That's how I roll. You have the whole package and a great nondisuputable rock hard strong rhythm section: a drummer that can steal the show with a drum solo and a bassist that plays as if he has been doing this for a hundred years. You are all wonderfully talented artists and DESERVE all the accolades and great reviews. Keep on rocking, keep the blues alive, and yes, you are keeping the blues alive.

5th we three show and they will forever be my comfort band they are the sweetest kindest people , who create an incredibly safe place and space for us to scream cry sing and just be who we want to be it’s the best version of therapy there’s is forever grateful for my favourite trio, slfa is an incredible era and I hope I can see it live again hopefully somewhere in Europe 🥹🩵

Discrepancies was a great way to start the show! Later in the show, the cover of Rap Superstar was over the top! I just found Silent Theory about a year ago and am wondering how it is that I had never heard of them prior to that?!? They sounded great and Dakota has the headliner stage presence and is insane on the mic! I can't wait until they come back around!

Hawthorne Theatre has a side entrance that I wasn’t aware of and the band played like what felt like very kool house party, there was maybe 45 people and they played awesome. It was a last minute decision to go and see them play and it was definitely a memorable decision. Super kool musicians . I was able to present them all with Blessed Guardian Angel 👼🏻 pins and had them pull blessed Crystal Hearts out of a pouch.

Oh, I can say that it was one of the best concerts of my lifetime. Lyrics sang so soulfully, and with such passion by Adam, that you can literally feel it in your heart. The duo are such great story tellers. All the instruments were well tuned; I especially loved that old Oregon...one of a kind! I also felt the music in my feet as; the music reverberates in that old 1919 theater. Love that up close and personal venue. It was great to feel part of a "music community"... we were all there for the message, that is spoken in the lyrics. Fun, to see the beginning of an amazing journey for these guys. Looking forward to watching them get found by more like minded humans. Found them by happenstance while searching for music of my taste on Spotify.

Amazing performance (as always), with a fantastic and kind crowd, in a great venue. The only reason I’m not giving a full 5 stars is because they played “This Land is Your Land”, and, please stick with me here as I explain why. Also, I’m not posting this in an attempt to demonize, punish, or “cancel” The Frights—for the last 11 years I’ve been regularly listening to their music, seeing them live, and they have been, and remain, one of my absolute favorite bands—I’m posting this with the hope that The Frights accept my invitation to listen and grow from this, to create more inclusive and supportive spaces for all marginalized communities at their shows. To keep this shorter and more eloquent, I’ll summarize my argument with quotes from a very well-written article (that everyone could benefit from reading in full) by Mali Obomsawin, who is a writer, musician, and citizen of the Abenaki First Nation at Odanak: “In the context of America, a nation-state built by settler colonialism, Woody Guthrie’s protest anthem exemplifies the particular blind spot that Americans have in regard to Natives: American patriotism erases us, even if it comes in the form of a leftist protest song. Why? Because this land “was” our land. Through genocide, broken treaties, and a legal system created by and for the colonial interest, this land “became” American land. But to question the legitimacy of American land control today instantly makes one the most radical person in the room–even in leftist circles. And because Indigenous critiques of this country are so fundamental, our voices are often marginalized to the point of invisibility. This article is about improving allyship. In order to dismantle this nation’s blind spot for Native struggles, we must examine how ignorance about Indian Country and anti-Nativism are disseminated. Ignorance regarding Native people permeates all of American society– it cuts across income brackets and partisan lines, age and racial demographics, and elite and non-elite spheres at all levels of education. If this is your first encounter with concepts like Native sovereignty, aboriginal title, and federal recognition, this article is for you.” Obomsawin (2019) further explains: “By critiquing “This Land Is Your Land,” I don’t mean to imply that Guthrie himself promoted conquest, but the song is indicative of American leftists’ role in Native invisibility. The lyrics as they are embraced today evoke Manifest Destiny and expansionism (“this land was made for you and me”). When sung as a political act, the gathering or demonstration is infused with anti-Nativism and reinforces the blind spot. Moreover, my critique is aimed at the nation-state of America, which teaches ignorances about American history so robust and deep-seated that even our society’s most inclusion-oriented activists struggle to transcend them. Just as when Americans call this country a “nation of immigrants,” the proclamation erases Native peoples’ right to exist in the collective consciousness. True allyship–specifically, transcending the anti-Nativism integral to American society—requires first interrogating one’s own ignorances.” Anyways, if you made it this far, thanks for coming to my TED talk haha. The venue staff were all so polite and helpful and the merch table runner was awesome! Shayfer James was amazing as usual, and it's so cool to see more people learn about his music in real time. I love my new Shayfer James t-shirt. I really appreciate when the merch shirts are comfortable to wear and fit well. They're so soft and it's nice when other artists or what have you go for the cheapest, most scratchy shirts because they feel having their name or the show's name on it is enough to charge like thirty bucks, usually more. I'll actually wear my Shayfer James shirts whether I'm going to work, the grocery store, or lounging around on my couch. It's definitely something I appreciate as a fan. Can't wait to see him again and put any new songs into my playlist. Currently putting together a new playlist of his songs for my father as well. If he likes them enough, I'm ordering some more CDs online.

they all absolutely fukin killed it and the crowd was great at paying attention to others and making sure people had water. the only downside was how hot it was but people were moving so it makes sense. also my brother somehow lost his key fob in the pit and when we got back to the venue security had it so big upps to whoever turned it in i love you. all around fantastic

The show was amazing. The opening acts were great and I'm following them now as well. Voltaire is always a great show. He always makes it feel like you are there are part of the show, no matter if the crowd is 50 people or 500. We will always do our best to make it to his shows because of how great of a performer he is. Hawthorne Theater is a great venue. My wife and I have ADA accommodations and they really are respectful and have great ways to help out. Nobody ever made us feel like we were being a problem for them. Great staff, great venue. Thank You Hawthorne for making the show accessible for us. Rating 5/5

Arrived a little late to a unconscious girl at the entrance being given narcan which set an interesting tone in my mind for seeing EKKSTACY for the first time, but nonetheless they sounded great! An encore performance of “Christian Death” was met with a clueless dude that got on stage filming selfies of him and Khyree and was not met with much approval from the bad. I’m sure Rozz Williams would have enjoyed the irony!

Super fun show! He is so talented! The stage was so cool, he had the electric static balls that u touch n it appears to zap u (havnt seen those in years) and had 5-6 TVs playing random cartoons and old movies and it was just a really cool show! The music was a range of everything. country, blues, rock, metal, he even played the ukele. Damn he’s good! So glad I went! 💜🤘

Went to 2 of their shows for my 30th Birthday!🥳 This show was so good! The sound system could have been a bit better. But all the bands did a GREAT job though and definitely got the crowd hyped up! I was so sore from jumping the next morning it was GREAT!😁 I got up and drove to Seattle for then next show my brothers and I had a FANTASTIC time and we can’t wait for the next one!😍😁

The show was amazing. Stabbing Westward played songs from throughout their career, including Shame, What Do I have to Do?, Save Yourself, The Thing I Hate, Waking Up Beside You, So Far Away, Dead and Gone, Cold, I am Nothing and started the show off with Damaged Goods. Always a good sign when you can tell the band is having a good time too. My only complaint is with myself for waiting so long to see Stabbing Westward live. 26 years is too long.

I only gave it four stars because of where the show was. High on Fire always deliver (OF COURSE) but the Hawthorne Theatre always f*cks up a good show; the sound bounces all around and gets all muddied, distorted and garbled. I mean, it's a cavernous box with too-high ceilings that wasn't made for live music. At any rate, Mos Generator were the opener and they were great and fun and seemed to have a good time, themselves. And. Then: the mighty ... nigh-unstoppable war-beast that is High on Fire took to the stage. And who, to my wondering eyes, should appear behind the drum kit? Why, their newest (hopefully permanent) drummer, Coady Willis! But, I digress... Matt snarled a greeting to the crowd then High on Fire ripped, thundered, pummeled, plundered and blasted their way through their setlist. Roughly 75 minutes later ... it was over. ANOTHER successful slaughtering of souls by Matt Pike & Co. Nothing left for them to do but drink blood from some of their enemies' skulls. Per usual. 🤘🤘🤘

Sumo Cyco had one of the best sets that I have ever seen. They were planning on cancelling cause Skye was sick, but I'm so grateful they didn't. Their energy was next level. I swear Skye was in the crowd just as much as she was on the stage. I've been listening to their music almost nonstop since the show and they have a fan for life. I can't wait for them to come back to Portland. Also, they have amazing merch. I'm a fat man and I am always used to bands having shirts that just hang in my closet, but they had 3X shirts that look amazing. And their beanies are so incredibly comfortable. 100% reccomend picking up some of their merch.

What a great line up! Enterprise Earth (love the PNW metal 🖤🤘) Dan Watson never disappoints! - Slaughter To Prevail (Alex Terrible in the photo I shared. ) completely blew my mind! There’s only one other vocalist I can say that has pulled those emotions out of me : Ian Gray of Recoil In Horror. Alex Terrible is now the second! 🤘Really just nailed those vocals. I really felt the words were genuinely being sung from a place of experience. 🖤 Left such an incredible impression on me! Last but not least , Chelsea Grin. Tom really reinvented “Recreant”. It was the encore song. Tom was really getting the crowd into it during their set. Loved his stage presence! This was my first show of 2019 and I’m happy that it was! I was supposed to be in South Dakota but a snow storm prevented me from going. Very thankful for that snow storm. Thanks to these 3 bands for making my Friday night amazing! 🖤🤘🎶

By far the best time I’ve had in my life! I felt welcomed, and enjoyed the music to the fullest!!! Roy was very nice to everyone, and even passed out water bottles so we weren’t just standing there dehydrated the entire night. Would 10/10 go again! We got to meet Roy out in the back of the venue and just talk and hang out with him. Such a generous, and thoughtful soul!

Kulick and The Faim were perfect as opening acts for Andy! OMG! They are serious musicians and know how to treat their "new" fans! Andy was his amazing self and he made the fans feel individually important! Would have enjoyed a longer playlist from him (was looking forward to My Way), but what we got was just enough to keep me happy until his next time thru The Rose City🤘🎶🖤 Thank you Kulick and The Faim, and the biggest of THANK YOUS to Andy!!!!!

it was my third time meeting Andy but second time meeting him just Andy Black it was amazing his singing was great he was so energetic and actually he spoke to me on the stage of the guitarists new name then it was mr.
