PLAYING TIMES: THE SECRET BEACH (CA) 9.30PM 'TIL 10.10PMFOREVER SON 8.30PMTHE BOATMEN 7.30PMFREE ENTRY | $20 CHICKEN & EGGPLANT PARMAS | $10 PINTS OF MOUNTAIN GOATKick those Monday blues to the curb at Social Sanctuary – your weekly night of free live music at NSC. We've lined up a stellar roster of your fave local artists and some exciting new talents breezing through town! This week The Secret Beach (CA), Forever Son and The Boatmen are stopping by for a show.  The Secret Beach resists definition. It’s not exactly a band, not quite a studio, and not just a vehicle for Matlock, Manitoba–born songwriter Micah Erenberg—though he’s central to it. It’s more of a vibe, a feeling, a place where music and connection live. Alongside close collaborators Daniel Diamond and Kacy Lee Anderson (of Kacy & Clayton), Erenberg creates heartfelt, DIY songs that blur the lines between country, folk, and slacker rock—rich with warmth, humor, and handmade charm. The sound lands somewhere between a campfire jam and The White Album—easygoing and loose, but with an incredibly detailed attention to production. In 2025, their album we were born here, what’s your excuse? was a surprise JUNO nominee for Adult Alternative Album of the Year—an unexpected nod to a project built from friendship, intuition, and homemade sincerity. Whether playing solo or as a group, The Secret Beach captures a musical intimacy that feels lived-in and free. There are no rules here. Just music—and whatever else they feel like makin’. The rest is a secret. Forever Son, the project of frontman Jack Robbins, creates lyric driven music lush with harmonies and textures rooted in folk and soft rock. Forever Son has performed across Australia and abroad extensively since 2012 and has three albums and multiple E.P’s out both independently and with There & Back Again Records (AU). ‘By The Book’ Forever Son’s latest split LP with Girlatones, is five tracks of charming 70’s inspired harmonies, jangly guitars, warbling piano and melancholy lyrics. It is out now via BDK Records (AU). The Boatmen are a Northside trio arisen from a shared love of folk music. Blending melancholic, evocative lyrics with three part harmonies and accompaniments from bass and banjo. Social Sanctuary is proud to be sponsored by Mountain Goat. Our show is being held on the lands of the Wurundjeri People and we wish to acknowledge them as the Traditional Owners of this land we are gathered on. We also pay our respects to their Elders, past and present, and Aboriginal Elders of other communities that may join us for our show.THIS SHOW IS STRICTLY 18+Northcote Social Club strives to create a safe space that everyone can enjoy.Crowd surfing & dangerous behaviour will result in removal from the venue.Full conditions of entry | Accessibility Info

Forever Son Biography

Forever Son is the project of singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jack Robbins. Drawing inspiration from Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Daniel Rossen and Fleet Foxes, Forever Son’s sound is raw and free flowing with a splash of reverb. Tracks imbue dreamy, sun-soaked mornings without the restraint of calculated thought.
Growing up in Anglesea on Victoria's Surf Coast, Forever Son first picked up a guitar at age thirteen and started playing in bands not long after. Moving to Melbourne in 2013, Forever Son released a 7” split single that year with hometown friend, Fraser A. Gorman. The self-produced debut EP, Trout Fishing, followed in October 2014.
After the release of single, ‘Rambling Knots’ in October 2015, Forever Son headed back into the studio to write and record his first long-play, 10 Months. Following on from the release of singles, ‘San Jose’ in late 2016 and ‘Crumb Kitchen’ in early 2017, 10 Months was released to critical acclaim in May 2017, with singles featuring on Double J’s ‘Tower of Song’ and Triple J’s ‘Roots N All’. Tracks from the album have also received airplay on community radio stations nationally, including Triple R, PBS, FBi, SYN and Radio Adelaide.
After launching the album to a packed room at Melbourne’s Old Bar, Forever Son played a string of dates nationally with a three-piece band, backing up previous performances at Kennedy’s Creek Music Festival, Anglesea Music Festival, Bendigo Blues and Roots Festival, and By The Meadow.
