The venue was nice, but there were too many people. It felt cramped and not as comfortable as the music we were listening to.
Robert Glasper did a lot of improv, which is okay, but we really wanted to hear the music we know and love. Mr. Glasper and his team are extremely blessed and talented, and they have every right to improvise given their incredible skill, but I would have preferred they stick closer to the studio recordings and make it less of a jam session.
The improv and jam sessions were beautiful and had their place, but we were there for the music we know and love.
Great concert and venue. I wouldn’t change anything other than give Steve Moekler more than 30 minutes as the opener. Can’t wait to see Dave Barnes again.
Hoge was great. He is always great. A good musician with a solid voice and great, GREAT songs. Some timeless, some topical, some commentary, but always feels from the heart. I saw him late last year with William Elliot Whitmore opening and I think Will liked the kick drum. He uses it nicely but sparingly. I need to see him with a band again. Some of the songs are too angry to be conveyed with an acoustic guitar. I mean, I guess Woody Gurthrie did it, so what do I know. I just miss the Drive By Truckers like guitar attack in "Still a Southern Man".
The venue is nice. It is more a listening room than a concert venue. The seating for 8 at table is a little tight and leads to a lot of spilling, a lot of apologizing for movement and not enough room in the aisles. Still, it is a nice place to take my wife to show whew I know she can sit down.
Hoge is a must see act, if you love brilliant songwriting and he has a nice way with the crowd.
Fantastic show! John Oates and band were incredible. He is such a charismatic person and with the help of his band, the venue was electric! The staff were wonderful and everything went pretty smoothly. The opening band was also amazing and got the audience warmed up for the main event. Overall, I would see John Oates as many times as I could!
Always a great show and always get some behind the scenes stories from Michael Martin Murphy, I've come to always expect a very entertaining show.
I had so much fun! I loved all the stories about each song! I’ve seen Hawthorne Heights a bunch of times, and they never disappoint!
great artist. Those that refer to Marc as a "One Hit Wonder" sell him short. He has a great catalog of songs, might never be a superstar, but man, he is solid. Nice venue, drove from Blue Springs, wasn't disappointed. Only negative is my server came to settle my bill in the middle of Walking in Memphis. Use a little sense. Interrupt the highlight of the evening??? Come on. Will be back 5/2, it was still a great evening.
Pat McGann is one of the best comedians we’ve ever seen! His comedy is so relatable and his crowd work off the fly is hilarious! We will be watching his schedules so we can see him again!
This was my first time watching my fave band! I’m so happy of this rare chance to see them & it was a blast! I wish they come back for more of their US TOUR! We love love love Incognito! We were mesmerized with their performance especially with their special surprise vocalist, Maysa! Will definitely see them again!
The venue was beautiful, and the staff was very friendly and professional! Service was awesome, although the tables against the stage were way to close and the chairs were too close together. We always like to be on the front row for Skerryvore concerts, but our table was touching the stage as was the side of my chair, and I was unable to move my chair at all, which would have made it difficult to watch the concert comfortably. Luckily we were able to move to a high-top table which made viewing perfect!
Skerryvore NEVER disappoints! We drove in from Louisville for the show and it's always worth it!! The guys always engage the crowd and their energy is unbelievable! We always try to see their show if it's within a 5 hr. drive. They are really AWESOME! Great Show!
What a cool evening at City Winery. The space is intimate, the price was affordable and the Scottish band brought the audience to their feet!
Jake and Jackson and Justin were all fantastic, better than even the highest expectations. Truly wonderful.
However, the venue was horrible. City Winery is a terrible place that cannot make up it's mind whether it's a concert venue or a restaurant. Each patron gets a 12 inch by 12 inch section of table and about that much room for their chair. The chairs are chipped and the tables all wobble. Everything is packed in too tight, the floor plan for ticket purchasing is completely out of scale. It shows floor space that does not exist. We will never go back no matter who comes to perform.
Never fails to deliver-This band sounds amazing no matter the venue, but City Winery had the acoustics to really add a new level to the sound. The band members are fine musicians and even better conversationalists! Don't miss this band the next time they are in town!
Concert itself was great but feel like maybe this was the wrong venue for them. I'm a little disappointed with the city winery set up. Tables and chairs were crammed into the space. 1/3 of the seats weren't even used. It was super uncomfortable to be practically sitting on top of one another and looking sideways at the stage the whole night. The openers The Perikoff Brothers were fantastic as well.
Have been a fan since first album so any chance to see Jennifer live is amazing. Her dynamics with Sarah was pure entertainment. Jennifer's song writing and musical style is amazing. Venue at City Winery was great for this event.
Intimate and honest evening with an amazing songwriter and human. Thanks for thinking of your trip to St. Louis as a child as a reason to visit.
Rickie Lee was amazing. I felt like she was singing directly to me. Threw in a few songs from earlier albums which I loved but would have been satisfied with the songs from the new record. Her voice was so crisp and pure. It was just what I needed. Great venue too.
Rickie Lee Jones was her charming and honest self. She can be quite funny. Her performance was real good. Her singing has as much expression as always. She played a mix of old and new with the mix heavily weighed to her new material. Her version of the standards she chose was refreshing as she made the songs her own. I would have liked a few more songs, but on the other hand I was ready to get out of there due to the uncomfortable seating.
The venue on the other hand was miserable. Why her management team selected that venue is a mystery to me. City Winery lost a lot of customers resulting from the overly crowded conditions.
The energy in the venue was incredible. Sophie is still as powerful and amazing in person as she was when she first came on the scene in 1992.
What a great show! I was so happy to finally see Raul's solo show. It fulfilled my expectations for sure.
I regret to add that the City winery seating was crammed far too close together. It wasn't easy to turn my chair around to face the stage and then the serves could not come to their customers .It's hard to believe that this passes fire code regs. CW is a great space but has room for improvement.
