Hafenklang is the last bastion of subculture on the otherwise completely gentrified Altona harbor front. In the former horse stables at Große Elbstraße 84, underground music in all its diversity pulsates across two floors - the main hall and the Goldener Salon: post-punk, indie, metal, hip hop, techno, drum ‘n’ bass, electro, punk, hardcore, noise, experimental, and much more.

Hafenklang has always been and continues to be committed to trying new things. The city's first dubstep and grime parties took place here. The club was and is home to the now internationally renowned formats Garageville, Get Lost, Booze Cruise, Moonbootica, Rock & Wrestling, and Drumbule.
