MILITIA VOX Biography
Militia Vox creates badass music, moving images and events. She is an award-winning solo artist, singer [Judas Priestess, Swear on Your Life], songwriter, composer, musician, host, director, producer and visual artist. She has recorded/performed with: Rob Halford, Twisted Sister, Living Colour, Cyndi Lauper, L7, John Petrucci, Candlebox, Nancy Sinatra and more.
Militia was the 1st Host/VJ of color on Much Music USA/Fuse and Hosted Fuse’s 1st reality tv show “Heavy Metal Makeover.” She has Hosted, performed and guest starred on MTV2, Vh1, Global TV and the Afropunk Festival and events.
M has starred in Off-Broadway, European Tours and National touring rock musicals. M made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2022. She also often performs as Chanteuse / Mistress of Ceremonies at legendary venues such as The Box, House of Yes, Duane Park, House of Voodoo and Times Scare.
She is featured in several books and films about music, as both expert and subject- including What Are You Doing Here? A Black Woman’s Life and Liberation in Heavy Metal by Laina Dawes, Why the Ramones Matter by Donna Gaines and the documentary “Betty: They Say I’m Different” about legendary funk rock singer, Betty Davis [currently streaming on Amazon Prime.] She speaks at colleges and conferences [such as SXSW, NAMM and Berklee College of Music, etc.] on issues such as- The Future of Music, Career Development, Black Women in Rock, Diversity in the Music Industry, Women in Music and was a recent SXSW Official Mentor. M is also a Voting Member (The Grammys) and District Advocate for The Recording Academy.
Militia creates, directs and produces music, music videos, short films, multimedia and events with her company, Militious Productions. Her most recent original works are connected via her project, THE VILLAINESS- a critically acclaimed full-length album, a work-in-progress award-winning visual album, immersive experiences and most recently, AR/VR and WebXR [FIVARS.] Militia is also a session singer for several music and film projects as well as composing for horror films and multimedia.
Her recent cover's of Led Zeppelin's "FRIENDS" was named #10 in the Top 10 Best of 2023 on Sirius XM - Check out "FRIENDS" by Patriarchs In Black (w/ Johnny Kelly from Type O Negative, Quiet Riot and Danzig) ft. Militia Vox.
