small talk (Bournemouth) Biography
Hailing from the coastal town of Bournemouth, Small Talk are an indie-rock band flying the flag for a whole new generation of guitar-driven pop music. When frontman Ben Lewis and drummer Harry Whitton joined forces in the summer of 2021 untied by the frustrations of the lockdown era, they meshed their musical influences together to create a sound they instantly knew was right. With mammoth guitar lines, singalong riffs and euphoric melodies, Small Talk's song writing has a level of maturity you wouldn't expect with all members being in their early 20s. With the addition of lead guitarist Mickey Golicher and bassist Rob White, Small Talk began making a name for themselves with their energetic live shows and unique social media presence. The band have, thus far, released six singles, most recently ‘Lost In The Moment’ and ‘Always Always’ which claimed their first plays on Radio X. Previous releases include ‘Headstart’ and ‘Paris’ in 2022, plus ‘Lifeline’ and ‘This is Not The End’ together with debut EP ‘Teenage Fear’ which sold out its physical run in just 20 hours earlier
this spring. The band have supported household names such as Sundara Karma.
Small Talk’s new soaring anthem “Begin Again” which is released as the lead single of their four-track EP “You Have To Understand I’m Young” is a force to be reckoned with. Wrapped in infectious guitar lines, the young four-piece from Bournemouth have delivered yet again with a track that is yet again destined to see them climb the ranks of the music industry. Produced by Alex Quinn (The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club) and mastered by Grammy-nominated Robin Schmidt, “Begin Again” packs a serious punch with strong vocals, intricate storytelling, and high-octane soundscapes. It wouldn’t be bold to assume that this track could be blasted out to crowds at every major festival this year. You can picture the scene. 1000s of people, arms up in the air, screaming every single lyric that feeling has been etched into the DNA of Small Talk.
