RISING WAVES
De Syrènes voelen zich in en rondom het water op hun best, maar vandaag begeven ze zich voor een keer op glad ijs. Samen met violiste Merel Vercammen maakten ze een programma over stijgend water, zoals in het Underwater dat Celia Swart voor Syrène schreef. In The Waves van Jacob ter Veldhuis staat het water al aan de lippen, waar de leeuwerik in Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending nog nét kan ontsnappen.

Merel Vercammen Biography
Classically trained Dutch violinist who loves to improvise. Graduated with highest distinction from the Royal College of Music London and won several prizes. Artistic director of SNAAR Festival on Music & Science in TivoliVredenburg Utrecht. Performs the great violin-piano repertoire with pianist Dina Ivanova. Improvisation projects under the name The Zoo.
