Fox Hill Troubadours Biography

Music is what brings us together. It doesn’t have to be complicated to be meaningful. Music can be a portal to the past, reminding us of youthful joy or those people we’ve lost who gave us our direction. Music can give us hope in troubled times, or maybe just a laugh when we need it. The right song can share the emotions our words alone fail to convey.
Music is how we share the human condition to not feel so alone in this world. This is the reason the Fox Hill Troubadours came together. To play music and make people happy. To take you away from your cares for a while and help your heart find some joy in these strange times. ( And it gives us a legitimate reason with our wives to get together and drink.)
Using the logic most people come to hear live music to connect with tunes they already love, we have built an initial roster of covers rooted primarily in feel good country classics (seemingly all about drinking). The troubadours also stretch out into interpretations of 90’s grunge, classic rock and modern indie / americana along the way and then once we feel the chickens’ have been fed properly, will throw a few of our own tunes in the mix as we try to pull those magical moments out of the ether as songwriters and collaborators.
The Fox Hill Troubadours are led by Scott Bogard, who has been strumming and singing his way through life and bringing happiness to audiences for years who got lonely on stage and recruited a few conspirators so he wouldn’t have to drink alone. Mark Nolte is a small town Iowa kid who started singing along with the radio to pass the time in a tractor as a high schooler. He put all that aside to be an adult and then realized that wasn’t any way to live and now he gets to smile and sing along as a troubadour. Bill Shannon is our city boy, born and raised in New York, he has played professionally with everyone, everywhere. We are so lucky that life brought him to Iowa.
We keep it stripped down and simple and can feel at home in a back yard or on a big stage, we just want to play. To learn more please check out the videos or give us a shout.
