Jocelyn Pettit

From the West Coast of Canada, Jocelyn Pettit is a vibrant fiddle player, stepdancer and singer of Scottish, Irish, French, and Malaysian heritage. With uplifting energy and engaging stage presence, Jocelyn integrates the Celtic and folk traditions of her roots into her performances and original compositions.

Over the past 15 years, Jocelyn has performed across Canada, the U.S., the U.K., Europe, and Malaysia. She has appeared on CBC and BBC television and radio, and shared the stage with internationally-renowned artists The Chieftains (Ireland) and Carlos Nuñez (Spain). She has received multiple award nominations, including “World Artist of the Year” at the Western Canadian Music Awards and Canadian Folk Music Awards, and holds a Master of Music Degree from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Jocelyn’s third release, Wind Rose (2022), features original compositions inspired by journey and self-discovery, and fresh interpretations of traditional and contemporary tunes. Nominated for “Solo Artist of the Year” at the 2023 Canadian Folk Music Awards, the album brings listeners through uplifting melodies, rhythmic grooves, soulful songs, and lively dance tunes.

Jocelyn also performs as a duo with Glasgow-based American cellist, Ellen Gira. Fusing traditional and contemporary music styles, Jocelyn & Ellen create a powerfully uplifting and soulful performance, weaving a rhythmically driving and textured sound. They bring life and fire into original tunes, songs, and high-energy repertoire from Scotland, Ireland, North America, and Scandinavia. Released in 2022, Jocelyn & Ellen’s new album “All It Brings” is a 10-track celebration of hope and resilience, with nuanced fiddle-cello interplay, vocal harmonies, and guest guitar accompaniment.
