About this concert
Join us on November 14, 2023, for the 16th annual Eva Holtby Program on Contemporary Culture featuring internationally renowned Inuk throat singer, songwriter, author, and visual artist, Tanya Tagaq.
The evening's program will commence with an intimate and engaging moderated discussion between Tagaq and Omar Rivero, who produces art under the name Driftnote. They will delve deep into the inspiration that gave rise to their immersive film, Ajagutaq/Parhelion. This discussion will be moderated by the City of Toronto Photo Laureate, Nadya Kwandibens.
Following this enlightening dialogue will be a screening of Ajagutaq/Parhelion—a cinematic journey that will transport you to the breathtaking landscapes of Nunavut.
To conclude this exceptional evening, we are thrilled to present an exclusive and not-to-be-missed live performance by Tagaq and special guests. Sharing the stage will be esteemed Inuit throat singers Nancy Mike, Varna Marianne Nielsen Apaloo, and Charlotte Qamainq, promising a mesmerizing performance of cultural celebration and creative brilliance.
Advance registration is required for this in-person program. No walk-ups at the door.
