Artur Tuznik Sextet spiller akustisk jazz inspireret af Charles Mingus og Nina Simone blandet med slavisk folkemusikmotiver og impressionistiske harmonier – hvor Tuznik, med sine melodiske kompositioner, udtrykker sin tydelige fascination af natur, spiritualisme og musikalsk skønhed. Med original musik, virtuositet og personlig klang præsenterer han et stærkt band, som er i stand til og ikke bange for at blande intens energi, spontane improvisationer med lyriske næsten meditative ballader.
Spring” er titlen på den nyeste udgivelse fra Artur Tuznik Sextet. Albummet er blevet rost i international presse og Tuznik blev nomineret til Danish Music Awards 2022 i kategorien “Årets Bedste Jazzkomponist”
Artur Tuznik er pianist og komponist og har boet i Danmark siden 2008. Hans genkendelige stil har rødder i lyden af skandinavisk jazz og er inspireret af impressionismens harmonier og folkemusikkens sprog fra hans polske oprindelse. Med udgivelser af hans trio og kvintet har Artur været beskrevet som “en usædvanligt begavet improvisator”, og som vinder af nogle af de vigtigste jazzkonkurrencer i Europa har han fået ry for at være en af de mest lovende pianister i sin generation. Tuznik har studeret på både Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium og Det Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatorium, og i hans kompositioner og ensembler arbejder han ofte på kryds og tværs af klassisk og rytmisk musik.
I Danmark har Artur været aktiv som bandleader, sideman og komponist og arbejdet med Tomasz Stanko, DR BigBand, Thomas Agergaard, Thomas Blachman, Lennart Ginman, Alex Riel, Nils Davidsen, Mads Vinding, Janne Mark, Claus Waidtløv, Anders Mogensen, Nicolai Munch-Hansen og mange flere. På det seneste har Tuznik været en del af flere produktioner i DR Koncerthuset bl.a. “P8 Jazz-Alive” og “DR Fredagsscenen” hvor han spillede og præsenterede sin musik live på DR2 og radio P8.

Artur Tuznik Biography
Artur Tuznik is a Polish piano player and composer based in Copenhagen, Denmark, active on European scene for jazz and improvised music both as a bandleader and sideman. His recognizable musical voice is strongly influenced by language of impressionism and folk music of his origins, while previously rooted in tradition of modal-jazz and sound we know as Scandinavian jazz. Most recently, after completing his studies at classical DKDM in Copenhagen, he engaged into stilistics from between worlds of classical music and contemporary improvisation, being known for his daring approach to combine achievements of earlier music with modern understanding of songforms and instrumentarium.
After moving to Denmark in 2008, Tuznik made his recording debut in 2011 with his “Licak/Tuznik Quintet”, released on the Danish label BlackOut, feat. Anders Mogensen on drums. The album was received by critics as an “excellent contemporary recordand real must listen'', and Tuznik has been described as “unusually gifted improviser” and “brilliant soloist”. That was followed by a realese of his Outbreak Quartet by label of Radio Katowice, after the band won the most important competition in Poland “Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa”.
In 2016 Artur Tuznik made his first trio release featuring Danish rhythm section of Nils Davidsen and Jakob Høyer - major figures on Scandinavian scene for improvised music. Album “Artur Tuznik TRIO” has been released by Polish label Multikulti, followed by great reviews internationally. The major Danish newspaper POLITIKEN placed it in TOP 5 Jazz Albums of 2017.

Since then, Tuznik engaged himself into touring, composing or performing in a number of various co-operations with Atom String Quartet, Thomas Agergaard, Maciej Obara, Moo Latte, and several other formations playing his original music. He premiered his cross-over work "SWAN Suite" under CPH jazzfestival 2018 receiving 5 stars in POLITIKEN. Before that, his work WOODS has been rewarded with a prize by the Danish Popular Authors Association (DPA), presented by Danish Radio Big Band and broadcasted live. On Scandinavian scene he gained recognition with his TRIO and by performing with Thomas Blachman, Lennart Ginman, Anders Christensen, Anders Mogensen, Thomas Agergaard, Tomasz Dabrowski among many others.
Internationally, in various projects, Tuznik has shared the stage and/or recorded with artists like Tomasz Stanko, Jeremy Pelt, Tony Malaby, Maciej Obara. Artur has also been performing on festivals in Europe, USA, Canada and such prestigeous venues as Lincoln Center in NYC.
As a bandleader, Tuznik has been awarded best-soloist and Grand Prix prizes on a number of international jazz competitions in Europe - Burghausen (Germany), Getxo (Spain), Hoeilaart (Belgium), Jazz-Nad-Odra (PL), Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa (PL) and more.
He graduated from Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen with a master degree and with Advanced-Postgraduate-Diploma "Solistclass". Afterwards, with Bachelor degree in classical piano from DKDM in Copenhagen.
In various projects, he has shared the stage and/or recorded with artists like Tomasz Stanko, Jeremy Pelt, Tony Malaby, Maciej Obara, Anders Christensen, Alex Riel, Andreas Lang, Richard Andersson, Anders Mogensen, Tomasz Dabrowski, Mads Vinding and many more. Artur has been performing on festivals in Europe, USA, Canada and venues like Lincoln Center in NYC.
From 2015, Artur was a part of an international super-group of young generation musicians lead by one of the most influential trumpeters in music history Tomasz Stanko who passed away in 2019. As Tomasz Stanko Experience, band has recorded and played a concert tour in Denmark followed by superb reviews in main national media - 5 stars from Berlingske and great words about Tuznik from major daily newspaper POLITIKEN:
