Emily & The Velvet Ropes: Emily Robertson is known for an expressive vocal style that in one moment evokes the sultry, smoky air of a post-Depression jazz club before next mesmerizing audiences with the shimmer, sparkle, and vibrancy of a modern Mardi Gras dancing krewe. Emily & The Velvet Ropes set listeners deep into the plush polyester sofas of the lounge in their minds through moody takes of songs by Leonard Cohen, Nina Simone, Portishead, Patsy Cline, and Roy Orbison. From the soulful to the country or crooning, her band’s musical choices satisfy both the introspective and the uninhibited with a cleverness and curiosity not often attempted by New Orleans cover bands. JQ Palms: Q Palms lives in New Orleans and is a prominent stand-up comedian and improviser known for her dry, witty delivery and parody ukulele songs. JQ was a featured comic at the premier opening for New Orleans’ first dedicated comedy venue, Comedy House NOLA, in June 2021 and has been a featured performer there ever since. She headlined the first New Orleans Comedy Festival in November 2021 and currently co-hosts the monthly all-female comedy show “Coven”.
