Flip Rushmore Biography
When you move 900 miles from your friends, you either lose touch… or you start a band.
Daylong drives and discount flights between Minneapolis and Nashville powered Flip Rushmore through: one long-distance LP (Big, if True), one long-distance EP (Choose Your Villains Wisely), and more than a dozen long-distance shows from 2018 to 2023.
Now, the distance is gone. Frontman Alex Smith is moving home to Minnesota after more than a decade away, joining Adam Szczepaniak, Nick Spielman, Dan Klauer, and Mike Green to do something new: play in a (strictly) local band.
Flip’s 2018 debut, Big, if True, was fully mixed and mastered by the time the group played its debut show that spring. It featured the bittersweet single “That Hollow Sound” and gained notable traction on North American radio, finding its way onto more than 100 terrestrial stations and rising to No. 71 on the Muzooka College Radio charts.
