A night of funk/rock/jam/psychedelic/rock fusion for your soul.  Doors @ 6:30pm Show starts @ 7pm Ma Baker Bio: Describing Ma Baker’s style in a word wouldn't suffice due to the amalgamation of funk, rock, jam, psychedelic EDM/house/rock fusion and their innate ability to connect with more than one type of folk. From storage unit to stage, they’ve grown into a full-fledged jam band with a notable following that would seek the depths of the mitten just to hear their anthem “Jammy”. Beyond their fans, the local music communities of Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor lend a backbone to the band’s ability to grow.  For Ma Baker, the enthusiasm and heart behind this niche music scene has provided friendships, hope, and shared, euphoric experiences. Like jam bands do, they improvise on compositions they have floating in their “Bakery” abyss. Band mate, Dylan Risinger, explains, “it kind of falls into this practiced unpredictability, where I know these guys as people and musicians, so there's an idea of how jams could go, but I'm still not quite sure what's going to happen. Taking a collective leap of faith and trusting each other to help us land on our feet.” Beyond the mere joy of being spontaneous, Ma Baker’s malleable ability is one of their strongest suits. With the exception of some specific instances, their songs are written and rehearsed collectively. With this collaborative mindset, the Ma Baker troubadours merely find hope in the unified desire to create music. You'll find this same hope in their forthcoming debut studio album, Weight Lifted (Sept.30). Act Causal Bio: Known for magnetizing performances, chilling harmonies, and a unique style of improvisation, Detroit's funky fusion band Act Casual has been taking over the Midwest music scene by blending the blues, funk, long instrumentals, and tight pop tunes with infectious melodies. In the last few years, the group has seen an increased following of dedicated fans that brought them from jamming in a basement to playing sold out shows at iconic venues such as Detroit’s Magic Stick, Ann Arbor’s Blind Pig, Grand Rapids’ Tip Top Deluxe, and Mount Pleasant’s Centennial Hall. They have also made a name for themselves in the music festival circuit headlining Livestock Music Festival and Sugar Creek Music Festival as well as performing at Summer Camp Music Festival, Hookahville, Weekend at the Cave, Good People Good Times, Ohio Dreamfest, Ann Arbor Hash Bash, Arts Beats & Eats, Big Fam Music Festival, a Bernie Sanders rally, and many more.  Act Casual has shared the stage with national acts including Bootsy Collins, Larry McCray, Laith al-Saadi, Brendan Bayliss and Ryan Stasik of Umphrey's McGee, Spafford, Ben Carrey of Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Moon Hooch, Muruga Booker and Gabe Gonzalez of Parliament Funkadelic, The Werks, Magic Beans, The Nth Power, Dizgo, and The North 41. The presence they have built on stage and throughout the Midwest is undeniable, leading to press in Rolling Stone Magazine, The Detroit Metro Times, Local Spins, The Stratton Setlist, and Music Connection Magazine.
