Moondaddy is a San Diego-based dream pop and shoegaze music project, led by singer-songwriter Cara Potiker. The project gained attention with the release of its debut album "Poet Lies," which was released in August 2023. The album, described as a reverb-soaked odyssey, showcases a range of influences from 70s glam rock to 90s shoegaze. It was recorded and produced at Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas.

Moondaddy's sound is characterized as indie, moody, and dreamy, evoking comparisons to bands like Beach House or Cocteau Twins, with a synthed-out shoegaze depth. The project's origins date back to the first lockdown of 2020, where Potiker found solace and creative expression in songwriting, addressing personal themes such as trauma, longing, and romance.

In addition to "Poet Lies," Moondaddy has released other works such as "Live to Tape at Big Blue" in December 2023. This album includes tracks like "Helicopter," "Still," and "Fortune Teller," all recorded live at Sonic Ranch.

The name "Moondaddy" was coined during quarantine, reflecting an interest in tracking lunar phases and astrology. This personal touch adds another layer to the introspective and emotive nature of Moondaddy's music.
