Riff Cohen

Riff is a rare combination of Beauty, talent, simplicity, modesty and joy. Although having only 26 years her music is very mature,sometimes dramatic and even dark.
A graduate of the University of Tel Aviv section of musicology, she is influenced by composers who do not necessarily come from the field of popular music such as Monteverdi and Meira Asher. But her influences are deeply rooted in popular music from Sudan, Marocco, france, americana…..

Her great inspiration was her grandmother Fortunée, illiterate woman from the island of Djerba in Tunisia. Riff has learned French by her mother who came from France to Israel.
Since the age of 8, Riff has been composing and singing her own songs and poems. She currently lives and works as a composer, singer, and songwriter in Tel Aviv
Riff’s music corresponds with a wide variety of genres and sounds. The oriental sources are expressed in the rhythm, taken from original North African music, like Rai and Gnawa, mixed and rearranged in coherence with Riff ‘s fresh vision of original music, transformed into kicking rock combined with the basic Trinity - guitar \ bass \ drums. That, together with her exceptional performance, naturally expressing authentic tenderness and difficulty, flirting and prayer, cry and joy - A PARIS is an emotional experience, embodied in a complete musical work.
