About this concert
Guitariste et compositeur québécois d’origine colombienne, Roberto López s’est fait un nom avec des arrangements novateurs. Depuis 2005, il publie des albums, récoltant de nombreuses nominations, en plus d’être choisi Révélation de Radio-Canada en 2010. Des rythmes afro-colombiens (porro et cumbia) et afro-cubains (guajira, son et descarga) rencontrent des lignes de basse qui rappellent Motown, se frottent à du jazz et groovent sur des guitares électriques latines. La recette est complexe, mais le résultat est simple : des pièces accrocheuses, tropicales et modernes qui feront certainement danser les foules, un rituel auquel Roberto nous a habitués depuis ses débuts.

Roberto lopez Biography
Roberto López is a Colombian-Canadian musician and composer who pushes the boundaries of modern Latin music with hip arrangements. Under Colombian grooves he unabashedly adds jazz, funk and electronic music to the mix. His projects have been presented on tours across Canada and Mexico. He has received several nominations (JUNO, ADISQ, GAMIQ, Canadian Folk Music Awards), as well as receiving the prestigious Artiste révélation Radio-Canada award.
For his sixth outing, Ritual (2022), Roberto continues his sonic explorations merging Colombian and Cuban grooves with funky guitar arrangements and unique bass lines. This new collection of tunes push the boundaries of modern Latin music with his original electrified creole, amplified by the tropical street sounds coming out of his Picó (Colombian Sound System), creating an infectious collection of tropical dance-floor fillers.
