Aline Frazão Biography

Aline Frazão (Luanda, 1988) is one of the most exciting up-and-coming Angolan musicians. Brought up in Luanda, she is a singer-songwriter, guitar player and producer who currently lives in Luanda. Apart from her music career, Aline also have collaborated with the digital newspaper Rede Angola, where she wrote a weekly column. 

Clave Bantu washer debut album in 2011, which was recorded in Santiago de Compostela with musicians Jose Manuel Díaz and Carlos Freire, presenting Aline’s original songs and featuring two collaborations with Angolan writers José Eduardo Agualusa and Ondjaki.

Her second full-length album Movimento (Movement) was launched in 2013 and saw Aline also take care of the production. The album includes Alda Lara’s poem “Ronda” as well as a partnership with Angolan songwriter, poet and journalist Carlos Ferreira in the song “Desassossego” (“Uneasiness”).  It was released in May by the Portuguese label PontoZurca and was distributed in Europe by Coast Company. After launching the album in Luanda, Aline toured worldwide, visiting a wide range of countries including Cape-Verde, Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Germany, Brazil, Portugal, Switzerland, Norwayand Austria.

Aline Frazão released her third album Insular in 2015; an album again featuring original compositions only. It was recorded in the Scottish island ofJura with British producer Giles Perring and the guitar player Pedro Geraldes (Linda Martini) who played a major role. Insular brings us new collaborations; they include Angolan poet Ana Paula Tavares and Portuguese rapper Capicua, as well as a cover version of Rosita Palma’s “Susana”, featuring Toty Sa’Med.

Apart from being on tour, Aline is currently working on her fourth studio album.
