DJ James Dela Cruz

James Dela Cruz of (The Avalanches fame) is one of Australia’s most original and respected DJs, an influencer who has covered a lot of musical turf locally and internationally.

A musical mastermind who regularly thrills crowds with his unique style of DJing. In an avant-garde approach which fuses turntable elements with an eclectic track selection, each set is a musical journey which takes his listeners beyond the aural to capture an emotion. It is through this emotion that art meets music, as James connects with his audience through a cohesive track selection from hip hop and techno, to Arabic, reggae, drum and bass & feel good old time classics. His memorable sets for Victorian DMC and ITF competitions had blown Melbourne away and which led to forming the Turntable band 2 Minute Needles along DJ Dexter. This drew the attention of The Avalanches, whom he joined as DJ and keyboard player touring at length internationally to sell out venues and festivals. The Avalanches received international and national acclaim for their unique & mind blowing album “Since I Left You”. Which to this day is still respected by musicians, journalists and music lovers from around the globe.

James has also successfully toured Internationally as a DJ sharing the bill with the best in the business. It is rare that a DJ can cross over to support Rock Bands as well DJs.
