About this concert
Cherry-picked music and anecdote from the remarkable work and life of Johnny Mercer, the songwriter Oscar Hammerstein called ?the most perfect American lyricist?. Mercer?s unparalleled run of Great American Songbook hits ? from Lazy Bones (1933) to Summer Wind (1965) - comprises dozens of witty, warm and wise classics written in collaboration with composing giants Harold Arlen, Harry Warren, Hoagy Carmichael, Henry Mancini, Jimmy Van Heusen, Duke Ellington and many others.
Currently divested (for legal reasons) of musical associates, Chris Ingham returns to his roots, taking to the piano and microphone alone to salute a 20th century legend of song.
