Adeline Um Biography

Best known as a Korean-American, Boston native, Adeline Um has been building her solo career as a talented Singer Songwriter since 2015. When she was 15, she joined the Berklee City Music scholarship program where she curated her sound and style as an artist. Through the Berklee City Music, Adeline has performed the national anthem at Fenway Park and The TD Garden, and has played for many renowned artist, including Lalah Hathaway at the Grammy museum in Los Angeles. When she was 18, she chose to move to St. Andrews Scotland, UK to pursue a liberal arts degree in Psychology and Social Anthropology at the University of St. Andrews and she received her MA degree in the summer of 2019. Throughout her time in St. Andrews, she joined an a cappella group, sang at church, played countless gigs within Scotland, and wrote about her life experiences traveling around the UK and Europe. One of the most staple gigs that Adeline played was her first Sofar sounds gig in St. Andrews that was started by her close friend, and performing/visual arts entrepreneur, Tiffany Black. Through this connection, Adeline was able to play several Sofar sounds gigs across the atlantic, the most memorable one to date being the Sofar sounds gig she played in Philadelphia in early January of 2019. It was a life altering gig. Her new initiative, ‘Sung by Um’ was inspired by her new manager, Craig Kaplan who was in attendance at the Philadelphia gig. He was so moved by her performance that he reached out to her after the gig, and they struck up a deal. He’s been coaching and preparing her for her music career since February, 2019. Craig has worked with Grammy Winners, The Allman Brothers, Anita Baker, Tony Bennett, and Bonnie Raitt. Influenced by experiences, travel, love, and connections with family, friends, and humanity, Adeline Um aspires to perform music that speaks to fans across the musical spectrum. As a Korean-American who has lived in Scotland, Adeline strives to understand the complexity of culture and humanity, while connecting people of different backgrounds to the common thread of her music.
