Last Robots

The duo Last Robots, previously known as Electricity!, are two Warsaw Djs - Bert & iRobot. They've come together over 10 years ago, but each of them has clocked more individual DJ-miles previously. Bert appeared on the Warsaw club scene at the end of the 1990's, first as part of the breakbeat collective Boogie Mafia, then as a resident of the cult club Piekarnia. He was also a radio DJ at the Radiostacja in its historic moment and since 2006 he's been with Radio BIS – now Radio Euro – presenting his own shows and over 2009 as the station's music director. As a journalist, he has published reviews and articles in Techno Party, Lajf and Dziennik. There is probably not a self-respecting club in Poland he has not visited over the years – including such powerhouses as Sopot's Sfinks, Poznań's SQ and Białystok's Metro. Bert has also had the chance to share the decks with over a hundred top international DJs, including household names - Jacques Lu Count, Marshall Jefferson and Roger Sanchez. He's also judged many local DJing talent contests including Nokia DJ’s Cup and Heineken Thirst; he also taught young DJs at Coke Live Fresh Noise. It was also Bert who came up with the idea and organised the young DJs cup “Pierwsze Koty” in Piekarnia. The series proved a real goldmine, unveiling the talent of many younger generation DJs who now rock Warsaw's clubs. Among those was Igor, who in 2002 came second in the competition's first edition, which speeded up his DJing career. He became a regular at Piekarnia, and from that in other clubs in Poland; he also enlisted the semi-finals of Heineken Thirst and Nokia DJs Cup. As a member of the Deepconnection collective he wore several hats as a promoter, a regular at Instytut Energetyki, and a familiar face at the most popular club nights, including Isle of MTV and Import! He also took part in the Ukraine Electronic Music Festival. As Igor's career progressed, so did his and Berts friendship develop into a collaboration. In 2005, as a duo, Bert and Igor became residents at the On-Off club (later Vinyl), where they remained a solid presence, as promoters of their own night Electricity!, with special guests including Felix Da Housecat, Annie Mac, Touche, Justin Robertson, King Roc and their personal favourites - Yuksek and Alex Metric. Their DJing cooperation evolved into studio work and now Last Robots are not only out and about at parties, but more importantly for them they also create their own sounds and remixes for other musicians, including Plastic, Fox, Artybishop and Novika. They have also clocked several well-received edits and bootlegs: their version of the "Piosenka Młodych Wioślarzy" by the Polish all-time cult band Kult went down a storm with audiences at festivals and parties in 2008-9. They have also created music for several commercials. Last Robots have been everywhere in Poland – not just in clubs but also top festivals. They were present at Open'er, Audioriver and Coke Live, where they were the official support for The Prodigy. At Trends Lab they shared the stage with Soulwax, Booka Shade and Max Sedgley. Bert and Igor can also be heard anywhere in Poland – on national radio: Igor's Last Robots Alive is on at Radio Roxy and Bert's Kluboteka on Czworka Polskie Radio. Ten znany warszawski duet działa od 10 lat, choć obaj jego członkowie mają za sobą o wiele dłuższe doświadczenie djskie. Bert pojawił się na warszawskiej scenie klubowej w końcu lat dziewięćdziesiątych ubiegłego wieku, początkowo jako członek breakbeatowego kolektywu Boogie Mafia, potem jako rezydent klubu Piekarnia za czasów jego pierwszej, kultowej odsłony. Prowadził autorskie audycje radiowe, najpierw w starej Radiostacji, a od 2006 roku w Radiu BIS (obecnie Radio Euro). W roku 2009 był szefem muzycznym tegoż radia. Jako dziennikarz muzyczny publikował artykuły w Techno Party, Laifie i Dzienniku. Śmiało można stwierdzić, że w swej wieloletniej podróży djskiej odwiedził wszystkie liczące się kluby w Polsce, na czele z sopockim Sfinksem, poznańskim SQ i białostockim Metrem. „Dzielił decki” z około setką wykonawców zagranicznych, prawdziwych światowych sław, takich jak Jacques Lu Count, Marshall Jefferson czy Roger Sanchez. Był jurorem wielu konkursów djskich, w tym. Nokia DJ’s Cup oraz Heineken Thirst, a także wykładowcą Coke Live Fresh Noise. Bert był również pomysłodawcą i organizatorem konkursu dla młodych djów „Pierwsze Koty” w Piekarni. Konkurs ten okazał się prawdziwą trampoliną dla wielu wtedy młodych talentów, a obecnie czołowych warszawskich dj-ów, w tym także dla Igora, który w pierwszej edycji konkursu, w 2002 roku, zajął drugie miejsce. Po tym sukcesie kariera dj-ska Igora nabrała dużego tempa. Zaczął regularnie występować w Piekarni, następnie w klubach w całej Polsce, dotarł również do półfinałów w konkursach Heineken Thirst i Nokia DJs Cup. Jako członek kolektywu Deepconection organizował imprezy klubowe, występował w Instytucie Energetyki, na imprezach Isle Of MTV, i Import! oraz na Festiwalu Muzyki Elektronicznej na Ukrainie. Jednocześnie z rozwojem indywidualnej kariery Igora zacieśniała się przyjaźń i współpraca między nim a Bertem. W 2005 roku, już jako duet dj-ski, Bert i Igor zostali rezydentami klubu On-Off a potem Vinyl, w których to klubach współorganizowali cykl imprez Electricity! Wśród gwiazd cyklu pojawili się między innymi Felix Da Housecat, Annie Mac, Touche, Justin Robertson, King Roc oraz dwaj ulubieni producenci Last Robots - Yuksek i Alex Metric. Współpraca dj-ska szybko przerodziła się we współpracę studyjną. Dziś Last Robots nie tylko miksują na imprezach, ale przede wszystkim produkują własne nagrania a także są autorami remiksów dla zespołów Plastic, Fox, Artybishop oraz dla Noviki. Na koncie mają też kilka doskonale przyjętych editów i bootlegów - ogromną popularnością cieszy się nowa wersja "Piosenki Młodych Wioślarzy" Kultu. Zajmują się również tworzeniem muzyki do reklam. Last Robots można usłyszeć w całej Polsce - nie tylko w klubach, ale także na bardzo znanych festiwalach. Duet występował na Openerze, Audioriver czy Coke Live. Na tym ostatnim zagrali jako oficjalny support przed grupą The Prodigy. Wystąpili również na scenie festiwalu Trends Lab obok Soulwax, Booka Shade oraz Maxa Sedgley’a. Obu artystów można usłyszeć w polskim eterze - Igor prowadzi audycję Last Robots Alive w Radiu Roxy, zaś Bert Klubotekę w Czworce (Polskie Radio).
