A New York native and Bay Area transplant, this self-taught guitarist and soulful songstress evokes listeners on a deep, soul level. Her sound is a mix of rhythmic finger picking, guttural blues belts, quick lyrical flow with insidious phrasing interwoven with haunting lullabies. This artist is not like anyone you have ever met. She has an authenticity and realness that will startle you. She says what she thinks. She does not abide with the social norms and could care less about superficiality. She surprises people with a genuine kindness for all beings. She cares about justice, art, creativity and “cawing it like it is” while she brings honest and uplifting messages through music, dance and community building. Crow expresses herself through many styles from neo-soul, blues, jazz, acoustic, folk-rock, electronica, dub-step, down tempo, hip-hop, dance and poetry. He loves to put his ears underwater and make vowel sounds. He has spent the past twelve years travelling the continent, gathering songs, playing and collaborating with some of his favorite people on the planet. The past three years, Travis has toured nationally with the International Institute of Digital Detoxification's Camp Grounded as the Music Master and director of the Yes-Choir. This is a summer camp for adults, where cell phones, computers, and real names are left at the door. The result is a delightful experience where grown people get to play like children. Back home in Bloomington, Travis plays and composes for Upfolk. He also has written and directed the street-opera "A Mimicry of Natural Order" and a number of puppet shows and chamber musicals, including "A Show of Hats" and "The Ballad of Thelmar Maria".
