What had previously been thought unattainable came to pass in the 1980s. Brazil, a far-off nation on the edge of the globe, was relearning how to navigate democracy after nearly 21 years of dictatorship. A thriving, rebellious, inventive, and nearly uncontrollable Metal scene erupted during that period. In the years that followed, this musical movement—which had its infancy at the beginning of the decade—solidified away from the scrutiny of the press and influential figures. It developed into a contrast to the nation's perception of summer, beaches, carnival, MPB (Brazilian Popular Music), and boundless happiness. Armed with crude instruments, these young artists came to remind us that not all of Brazil was lovely. Their songs' hardness and rawness, which were sung like battle hymns, ran against the oppressive morality of the time.

By 1996, this musical scene was well-established in Brazil and garnering respect in the most remote parts of the world, in a world without the modern conveniences of technology. It started to have an impact on either thriving scenes or newly developing ones. In this setting, a young fan of heavy metal made the decision to start his own band in order to celebrate and express Metal music.

NERVOCHAOS was created in the spring of 1996 by Edu Lane, the band's creative power. He enlisted close friends and, months after the band's creation, produced their first demo tape in cassette format, driven by a burning ambition to create an extreme Metal band that honored the legacy of both past and current greats while balancing heaviness with technique. Since then, the band has had an impressive career, even as an independent entity. They have a strong catalog with 13 albums released and have been on frequent tours that have taken them throughout the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. They have regularly performed alongside well-known Metal acts, playing from small clubs to big festivals. This consistent production and unrelenting touring have built a strong global fan base.

As they approach their 30th anniversary in 2026, NERVOCHAOS is preparing for a year full of fresh opportunities. They are set to release a new album and return to the road, where the band unleashes its fire, demonstrating why Brazil is a Metal powerhouse.
