Crotty's vibrant compositions expand the instrument's boundaries to encompass moody jazz, ecstatic Hindustani ragas, and emotionally charged Arabic maqam. Crotty's Trio (GC3), featuring John Murchison on bass and Jeremy Smith on percussion, recently released their fourth album, 2025's Heart Music. The new LP is an accessible, cinematic, and daringly transatlantic narrative that foregrounds the combo's clever cross-cultural interplay while emphasizing groove, melody, and texture over bombast.
