Had long been waiting for a Before The Dawn or Dawn Of Solace show in my neighbourhood, and this completely hit the spot. Atmospheric, melodic, a mixture of new and older material (which I personally still prefer). Beforehand we were a bit doubtfull about the new vocalist, but live he sounds a lot better and stronger than on the new record, and we were pleasantly surprised. Too bad it was only a 3/4 hour show. Stam1na before, though not completely my cup of tea, also turned out better than expected with an energetic set, but Swallow The Sun after, though clearly the crowd favorites, couldn't convince us, and we left early.

BTD was awesome. After hearing of them for the the first time 7 years ago and then finding all their albums to buy, I've finally been able to see them play live with their new vocalist. I hope someday they can tour the US to see them more often.

Probably the most hoped-for Finnish metal comeback is now reality. Led by multi-instrumentalist Tuomas Saukkonen, Before The Dawn released a new masterpiece of an album "Stormbringers" in June 2023. Now the band is back on the road for the first time in over 10 years. The new line up featuring Paavo Laapotti (vocals), Juho Räihä (guitars), Pyry Hanski (bass) and Tuomas Saukkonen this time behind the drum kit, is pure fire on stage.
