Skylor is the 9th studio album by Dying Passion, released as a digipak by Epidemie Records on the magical day of February 2 (02-22-2022).
The album brings 11 original tracks in atmospheric rock / dark wave / dream pop / post-rock sound (with English lyrics).
The recording went through a number of stages, starting with drum sessions in Studio Svárov, everything else recorded in Black Chamber Studio, and completed by mixing by Martin Spacosh Peřina (already working on the previous album Black Threads) and mastering by Jacob Hansen (Katatonia, Volbeat, etc.).
“I can’t imagine living outside this world, this is my life. I thoroughly enjoy composing, recording the music and developing an album,” says the songwriter and guitarist Standa Jelínek. “The key character of the album is the astronaut Skylor, speaking of his experience in space travel and trips to unchartered planets; while exploring these he often wonders if he will ever come back to the Earth,” adds Jelínek, who proves here his status of a true musical explorer.
The cover art was traditionally drawn by Petr Phob Štefek, and it may remind you of the Little Prince. Miroslav Václavek wrote the lyrics. He says, “Dying Passion’s new album was a brave new experience for me, mostly thanks to the freedom I was granted when designing the space sailor. Freedom is always the greatest challenge. I believe I didn’t spare any idea, and gave the concept absolutely everything.”
In the beginning of 2022, the album was piloted by the official video Aerosouls, made in the City Library of Šumperk (direction by Standa Jelínek, cinematography by Tomáš Nechanický).
