Sobre Carson Henley

A Suzuki trained piano player from age three, Carson learned to appreciate timeless music. However, this excluded music from the 80’s-90’s as his father and mother (a professional singer) banned commercial radio in the house. So Carson and his siblings (sister Tess is also a professional musician) grew up listening to the “approved” classics like Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, James Taylor, Joe Cocker and The Rolling Stones. While his music’s tight production is definitely not old school, Carson’s soulful rock-edge confirms those rich roots. On his most recent album (100 Hours), the songwriter accomplished what few would have attempted, let alone finish successfully, according to his Grammy-winning producer, Kory Kruckenberg. The concept was to write and record a complete album from scratch, in 100-straight waking hours with the most talented people in town. Mastered by Grammy-winner, Brian Lucey (The Black Keys, The Shins), the project’s entire creative process, pressures and triumphs were captured in a 48-minute documentary by Seattle cinematographer, Brian Nunes. Henley has since been named a Top 10 American singer-songwriter by Guitar Center and 100 Hours went on to receive the Independent Music Awards Best Pop Album. “Fire”, the album’s first single, showcases the songwriter’s soulful voice and punchy keyboards against funky blues instrumentals and contrasting harmonies. “Go Under” (a co-write with Allen Stone), gives uplifting hope to the troubled, while the bluesy ballad “Leave This Mess” is a gut-wrenching good bye to a treasured, yet failed, relationship.
