Originally a solo outlet for Will Gardner, JI became a quartet as of 2011 shortly after the release of Beyond Earth. After several years of balancing a steady schedule of live shows with breaks for intense writing/recording sessions, Flight of the Oscillator was released in September of 2014. Cole Sweat joined the band on keys in the late summer of 2015. Currently JI is set to release Æon of Humanity I: The Heliograph, the first in a series of three EPs, on April 21st, 2017. JI has shared the stage with such acts as ForeverAtLast, The Things They Carried, Project 86, I the Mighty, A Lot Like Birds, and '68.
