Sobre The Sturgeons

Worth listening to - over and over and over.”

Winnipeg roots duo The Sturgeons are the musical equivalent of a prairie summer spent out at the family cottage.

The Sturgeons have developed a sound not quite like anything you have heard before. They'll take you away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and bring you back to earth. Twin brother's Calan and Lucas Hamilton's eclectic brand of honest folk-pop has brought them critical acclaim, successful Canadian tours, radio airplay, and privilege of sharing the stage with some of Canada's heavy hitters. All the while never losing their signature grit. With two records under their belt and plans for more music and touring ahead, The Sturgeons swim on strong.

They play an eclectic mixture of 50s/60s pop & 70s angst folk roots. It feels old, new, strange & familiar. Their recent record “This Is” is a collection of thoughtful tunes, beautifully crafted and arranged with a spontaneous edge. What really stands out about this record is the refined songwriting, strong harmonies and tasteful arrangements.

“The Sturgeons have certainly continued down the already promising path they laid for themselves with TheWood Shop with the warm, refined sound of this album.”
- Danielle Marion “Stylus Magazine”

“Their tunes are charming and they make you want to two-step. If you’re going to make folk music, you can only hope to do it as well as the Sturgeons.”
- Kate Jacobson “The Gaunlet” University of Calgary
