Define Irony is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They formed as a three piece in 2011 with Dixon Frank, Brandon Myers, and Jonathan Merkt, but didn't do much until adding another guitarist, Ryan McMahon, in December of 2012, and finally all of their five piece band in August of 2012 with the addition of their screamer Robert "Puff" Murphy. Define Irony didn't get to their performing until October that year. They have been on the rise ever since. Upon July 9th, 2013, during recording of "Sinking in Shallow Memories" the band added female vocalist, Shannon Nelis. The band further more consisted of three vocalists. "Sinking in Shallow Memories" was released March 9th, 2014, selling over 250 copies. Later in May the band had departed ways with their guitarist, Jonathan Merkt. Define Irony has continued to write and plan for a big future. The band currently has an EP entitled "Welcome to Middle-Sex" which has received great praise and sales of over 150 copies as a band who has never played a show. They released "Sinking in Shallow Memories" and grossed over 250 copies. Ever since the collaboration of various styles, the band has soared in the local scene of Pittsburgh establishing a proud and strong fan base. Define Irony is a band never seen or heard of before. Their musical stylings range as well does their sound. They cover various genres. Each member's different styles of playing as well as creative ability is what makes them unique. They do it for themselves and the fans who connect right to home with the songs and the band themselves as they treat their fans as friends, people, rather than a number and money.
