Kylmä (cold in Finnish) started back in 2009 playing a mixture of death metal and folk metal. The band released several songs in small formats, including the Infinite Horizons EP (2012, 2 tracks) and the Envy EP (2015, 2 tracks). Now, in 2019 the band will release in August their most recent work through an EP of 4 tracks entitled “Primal Duality” (mixed and mastered in PlyGrnd Studio).

After some line up changes due to musical differences, the music style has evolved towards a more complex and progressive sound, maintaining the folk and death metal roots. Nowadays, the songs feature big orquestral backgrounds supported by heavy low-tuned guitars. The leads are fast and melodic, and are usually accompained by folk instruments such as flutes, bagpipes, stringed instruments or even Japanese instruments (Shakuhachi, Koto). The vocals feature heavy growling with melodic and catchy choruses.
The lyrics talk about human feelings such as despair, regret and betrayal, together with how we as human beings perceive the world and nature that surrounds us. We take reference from science fiction and even physics and theology, and we mix these concepts with nature elements (cold, wind, water, ice, etc.).
