Varnagel

Varnagel from Stockholm/Sweden was born out of the 90s punk wave. During the first decade of the 2000s the band toured most parts of the country, including the festival Augustibuller. Varnagel shared stages with fellow punk bands such as Köttgrottorna, Slutstation Tjernobyl, Skumdum, Coca Carola, Mimikry, Radioaktiva Räker, Charta 77, Krymplings and UBBA. After a number of demos and two official releases on Kamel Records and Second Class Kids respectively, Varnagel was signed to Beat Butchers in 2005. The band’s production includes albums, EPs, a best-of compilation, a demo compilation, singles, cassettes and splits. Throughout the years, Varnagel has appeared on loads of punk compilations, for example two times on the now iconic “Definitivt 50 Spänn” series. 2008–2020 the band has been inactive except for a few shorter reunions over the years.

In 2022, the band came back for real and released their fourth full-length album. The album was released on vinyl on Beat Butchers and on CD in a cooperation between Beat Butchers and the Japanese label Waterslide Records. 2024 the band’s fifth studio album is released, “Opium för folket” [Opium for the people] which is released in both Sweden and Japan in a similar manner as the last record.
