Sobre Anne Drummond
Musician | Producer | Educator
My work as a musician has spanned the genres of jazz and classical, brazilian and rock. After studying piano performance at the Manhattan School of Music, I continued my career with an emphasis on flute and composition. I have been featured with jazz greats such as Kenny Barron, Stefon Harris and Avishai Cohen, as well as rock artists Conor Oberst and Ian Anderson. More recent projects include collaborations with Brandee Younger, David Chesky and Lew Soloff. My albums as a leader include “Like Water” and “Revolving” and can also be found featured on the recordings of Nilson Matta, Victor Gould and Meg Okura.
It has been a great pleasure to assist Dr. Don Robin and Dr. Amy Ramage on the neuroscience of improvisation. This exciting project focuses on an aspect of creativity that has been little studied. In addition to this research, an outreach program has been introduced for charter elementary schools in New Hampshire, focused on teaching kids about improvisation and the brain. I travel to UNH to carry out (with Dr. Robin's team) classes with the children.
Currently, collaborations continue with Hiromi Suda and Brandee Younger as well as writing for my next album as a leader, to be recorded spring of 2018.
