"Do you consider yourself to be Red Dirt?" A question frontman, lead singer Aaron Woods, was asked in a recent interview. "I don't feel as if we wish to, or could label our music," he quickly replied. "Red-Dirt music isn't about the sound, it's about the life style. It's a genre that I'm proud to be apart of." he later added. The Aaron Woods Band was formed when frontman/lead singer Aaron Woods moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma in early 2010 from his home state of Kansas. "Once I decided that music was what I wanted in life, I decided to relocate to a more conducive area." Stillwater, Oklahoma has been dubbed several nicknames including, "North Austin" and "West Nashville" due it's popular thriving music scene. It's also known as the epicenter for the growing "Red-Dirt" music genre which is believed to be pioneered by local legends such as, Bob Childress, J.J. Cale, The Red Dirt Rangers, Tom Skinner, & many others. AWB consists of five guys that came together all for the love of music. Aaron Woods-Lead Vocals/Rhythm Guitar; Tylar Callaham-Lead Guitar/3rd Vocals; Brodee Nucci-Bass Guitar; Chris Gibby-Keys/2nd Vocals; & Tyler Jimenez-Drums. Together they bring together one of the most musically diverse groups in the Texas/Oklahoma Red-Dirt scene. Soon after inception, AWB established themselves as one of the more relentless touring groups in Oklahoma, playing over 100 shows per year. In early 2012, the band entered the studio teaming up with producer Tony Peirce to begin recording their debut album, "Signal From The South." The album consists of 9 tracks written or co-written by Aaron, including hits "Hangin' By The River," "She Runs," & "Dashboard Drummer." Soon after releasing the album, the band began earning the respect of the scene and support from fans throughout the Midwest with their extensive touring and high energy level shows. "We quickly became known as the country band with a rock edge." explained Aaron. Partnering up with Texas based radio promotions company, "Cabin Creek Promotions," AWB released "Hangin' By The River" to radio and quickly watched it hit airwaves landing on the TRRR(Texas Regional Radio Report) charts within 3-4 weeks. Officially debuting at #135, the single rapidly climbed all the way to #64 receiving over 300 radio spins per week. The band had made its mark on the Texas Scene, and had proved, AWB is here to stay. As of recently, AWB signed a nationwide distribution contract with Smith Entertainment, one of the most respected and well known record companies in the a Texas/Oklahoma Scene. Smith Entertainment will help expand the band's music on the store shelves in several Hastings, Best Buy's, & Walmart's throughout the country. "This is huge for us,"Aaron stated, "we are excited to be able get our record in the hands of more people that can share our music with others."
