Sobre Before the Streetlights
Before the Streetlights is a pop/rock band based in Louisville, KY as well as Indiana University's campus in Bloomington, IN. Twin brothers, Josh (vocals, bass) & Tyler (vocals, guitar) Courtney recruited Tyler Pritchett on guitar & Zach Schindler on drums and started playing shows while still in high school. The band began in their garage in 2011 and took influences from what they all grew up listening to: Fall Out Boy, All Time Low, and blink-182. The band spent their formative years crafting songs, playing shows, and cultivating a local fanbase.
The band released their first EP, Highways, which was produced by Austin Bello of Forever The Sickest Kids on July 14, 2014. After playing shows locally, the band took their show on the road and played in nearby states to crowds in Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, and Ohio.
Before the Streetlights traveled to Los Angeles in the summer of 2015 and recorded a five-song EP, 'Westward', with producer Mike Hart. The EP was mastered by Tyler Smyth of Dangerkids and was released via Antique Records on December 11, 2015. Since parting ways with the boutique label, the band has seen success by a constant show schedule, online promotion, and marketing their music at shows with an admirable dedication to reaching new people on a daily basis. Their music video for “Goodnight, Goodbye” was featured in over 1,000 Journeys stores in March 2016 which saw a spike in the band’s social media gaining them over 8,000 views on their video via their YouTube channel and over 25,000 Twitter followers.
“Westward means a lot to me,” states singer Tyler Courtney. “It was a chance for us to go out of our comfort zones and do something different. We learned so much from the writing, recording, and travel that ensued with the creation of the EP. It changed the way we thought about music, and I will always appreciate it for that.”
The band recently spent time in Nashville recording a batch of new songs with Will Pugh of Cartel which will see a release in the spring of 2017. Currently, Before the Streetlights has their sights set on playing more shows in support of national acts via upcoming shows with Cute Is What We Aim For and Metro Station, touring in the Midwest & East Coast, and promoting their music to a wider audience. The band is sure to make its mark and are destined for success through patience and perseverance.

Recent Press Coverage for Before the Streetlights:
“Everyone knows about pop-punk, but what do you know about the genre’s lesser known cousin, punk-pop? Louisville, Kentucky, four-piece Before The Streetlights falls smack dab into that punk-pop category—the vibe of their new song, “Goodnight, Goodbye” is straight pop-rock, but the energy the band brings to it (not to mention the exciting vocal tradeoffs) are straight out of a punk show. It’s like a lighter version of Hit The Lights, or if you remember the mid-2000s at all, sonic brethren of SoCal’s Over It.” - Substream Magazine
“Westward is all about guitar loving melodies, vocals to fall in love with, and even a hint of indie (“Private Browser”), coupled with the best song titles you’ve heard all year (“I Solemnly Swear I Am Up To No Good”, “Mischief Managed”). The band is certainly on to something, and we’re guessing it’s the next generation of pop punk.” - idobi Radio
“With its blend of harmonious pop sensibilities and punchy straight pop-punk approach, 'Westward’ carries a lot of potential for the young quartet.” - Already Heard
“Before The Streetlights play a unique take on pop-punk that draws from a variety of modern and classic genre influences. The immediate comparisons most drawn are to groups like All Time Low or 5 Seconds Of Summer, but even if you’re not a fan of those bands we urge you to take time to discover the music of [Before the Streetlights]. Their sound is what genre fans of all ages will be seeking in 2016.” - Under The Gun Review
“Before The Streetlights is a band that makes music in the same vein of early All Time Low. There’s enough pop appeal to attract the masses, and enough edge to make them feel like something more than a guilty pleasure for the pop punk kids that are too cool for top 40.” - 36 Vultures
