This was only the second time I’ve seen M. Doughty, and the other was a living room show, so the ambiance was of course quite different. I loved Mike’s direction of the band during each song, like full-size mixing in real-time. Great energy, solid performances, just the right amount of banter throughout the show, good sense of humor and presence. Good stuff!

Every time I see Mike Doughty it’s like the first time. The reason I say that is because he never performs things the same way. He’s always tinkering with his songs and changing them…sometimes on stage right before your eyes. And that’s why I’ve seen half a dozen times. I love the sheer artistry of his endeavors. For him, it’s not about creating another Super Bon Bon. It’s about creating art, something more than a poppy musical number you’ll forget in 5-10 years till the next Quentin Tarantino comes along and reminds you of the cool things you forgot about. Between Soul Coughing, his solo work and now Ghost Of Vroom, Mike Doughty has amassed a large number of amazing songs with the help Andrew “Scrap” Livingston and friends. Those songs were expertly played live by them and the rest of the band. I loved the show. He was just as good as always. And he’s such a gracious man. He really appreciates his fans.

I've been on a journey as a Doughty fan. 90s grunge helped lead me out of my 80s hair band metal adolescence, and Soul Coughing helped lead me into a wider, funkier, more expansive and inclusive musical life. Reading "The Book of Drugs" and learning how painful this thing that I loved was for him was hard, and seeing him slowly begin to embrace that music and reincorporate it back into his solo career, rediscovering and reinventing it, was a joy. Now, watching him play live again with his pal Scrap, working his electronic weirdness, layering sounds live, embracing music from Haughty Melodic, Golden Delicious, and his entire discography, including Soul Coughing, he seems happy. Happy and relaxed and experimenting and having fun. Thanks for bringing us all along with you, Mike!

It was my second time to see Mike and Scrap together. This show had a different vibe with a bigger band and Scrap was featured a bit more. It was a great show at Deep Ellum (and Scully was wonderful at the merch counter) and I enjoy continuing to see Mike's journey as an artist. He has a unique way of playing with language as a lyricist and is a pro onstage who has sounded great both times I've seen him live.

One of the best shows since the Soul Coughing days. Great mix of Soul Coughing, solo, and new Ghost of Vroom songs! Mike is back, and can't wait for the next chance to see him and the band!

Seriously one of the most enjoyable shows I’ve been to this year! The creativity and emotion he puts into his songs with the great musical talent combine with the live and passion of his fans to really make for such a unique experience. Thanks Mike!

Mike is always a trip. Love the guy. The sound system shoots straight out, so if you're at the bar you can't hear the PA very well. I wish Mike would go to LOVIN CUP. It'd be the perfect venue for him.

Mike was amazing. I liked how he broke up having some new funky new stuff played first and then played some of the classics that we all love to hear. I was just disappointed at the people at the venue. So many people talking instead of listening. I felt like they were there to say they were there versus to listen to the music. I on the other hand was there to listen to the music.

Terrific sold-out show, with two sets featuring tunes from his entire catalog. I've seen him a ton of times, and he's always fantastic. This show was no exception. Not a performance-related thing, but I do wish that he had either been standing or that his chair was on a slightly higher raised platform. Seated as he was, Mike was pretty hard to see for a lot of the people at the show. Small complaint that didn't affect my own enjoyment at all. Highly recommend this tour!

Great show, with a decent crowd for the venue. Mike D. played amazingly, he did variations of a lot of my favorites. Somewhere someone will likely post the playlist for the show, but once again, I smiled and sang along (quietly) the entire evening, he's a great performer, amazing talented guitar work and a remarkable songsmith.

Awesome!!! The improvised music was right up my alley. The venue, Union Pool, is VERY cool. Staff is very nice & helpful. The setup is really nice, a mellow bar to hang out in, then the venue is a very cozy room with a good sound system. Fees on tickets are VERY reasonable. Encourages me to see smaller artists in small rooms like this rather than "big" shows in arena's/etc

Fantastic show and great venue. Doughty still has it! The crowd was fantastic and a bunch of nice and enthusiastic fans. Not too many cell phones and minimal background chatter. Wheatus was fantastic!!!! My first introduction to this multi-faceted and very talented band. (I have a crush on the guitarist now).

Great show! Mike is a true performer. Lots of improv and banter on stage. Wheatus did a great job backing him up. 10/10 would go again tonight if I could.

This was the best show I've been to in a long time. Mike and his band sound stellar and play so well together. I'm looking forward to his return to KC!

Amazing!!! Saw a lot of songs that didn't get played at the living room show last year, but with a library as large as his it's not surprising. I'll definitely see him again the next time he's in town.

it was terrific! I especially love the way Doughty was using the band like an orchestra! Way to go still signing things btw, and I bought both tees....great graphics and the font on the orange one?!?! oh, em, gee! Lurve!

Spectacular set by Scrap Livingston and Mike Doughty! I keep coming back to "The Question Jar" concerts for the witty banter. I will forever stay because of the amazing music. 💕Amy

Amazing! Mike looked happy and it showed in his music. A shorter set than normal filled with songs from his entire career featuring the amazing Andrew "scrap" Livingston.

Do NOT miss Mike if you have the chance to see him live. Great show, funny stories and interactions with the crowd, and cool new interpretations of some of his older songs.
