She doesn't take her self too seriously and has the ability to be quite moving with her more melancholic material. She is comparable to Chet Baker.
She started her own label, Daffodil Records, in 1974.
As recently as 2006, the 80 year old Dearie is still performing at Danny's Skylight Room in New York City.
