Incredible show! Awesome hearing the classics and finding some new songs too. Got to meet them and they're some of the nicest people I've ever met.

Sobre Spoons

Spoons were a Canadian New Wave-New Romantic synth pop music group who formed in 1979 and were popular in the early 1980s. In 1983, they won "Group of the Year" at the U-Know awards.

The band, from Burlington, Ontario, consisted of Gordon Deppe (vocals and guitar), Sandy Horne (vocals and bass), Rob Preuss (keyboards and piano) and Derrick Ross (drums). Preuss also replaced Brett Wickens in 1980.

In the late eighties, Preuss went on to play with Honeymoon Suite and Ross left the band and were replaced by Scott MacDonald and Steve Kendry.

The band released five albums (and a soundtrack that was credited to Gordon Deppe but included a couple songs from the "Tell No Lies" ep).

Their most popular songs included "Romantic Traffic", "Nova Heart", "Old Emotions" and "Tell No Lies".

Gordon Deppe is currently a music programmer for one of the Galaxie Music Network (television) channels in Canada.

"Late 80's in Yugoslavia were a time of garage rock revival. One of the most fruitful bands on that scene were The Spoons. They were formed in Pula in 1988. Original line-up was Romeo Djomlija, Bruno Subiotto, Dorianno Lizzul and Ivica Kovacevic. In 1990, The Spoons justified their potential by releasing an LP consisted of original songs. The LP was entitled "Voxin'" and it came out on another indie label Idle Valley on the eve of the Yugoslav war in 1991. Right about that time, Djomlija's spouse Suzie enters the band. The singer Bruno left the band in 1992 to sing with internationally known Borghesia from Slovenia. A new singer Jim Lalock then replaced Bruno. Newly energized and reorganized, the band returns to their roots and put out the new CD "Web of Fuzz" in 1993. The Spoons got new singer Beli once more and in 1996 new cd comes out. Following the footsteps of their biggest influence, The Flaming Groovies, the new album was entitled "Supervoxin'". The album was promoted in Netherlands, but The Spoons eventually became only a trio, with Romeo and Suzie sharing the keyboard and vocal duties and Slaven Rich on drums. The trio ended their career in 1999 with another CD "Here Are The Spoons", recorded entirely in mono. This album was recently remixed and now it's waiting for the vinyl only reissue."
