Sobre Shane Joyce music
"An exceedingly talented singer-songwriter"
Hotpress Magazine
"deep and poetic.."
"nothing short of beautiful.."
Nitelife Magazine
"...a serious folk song-writer who, thankfully, has something to say."
Remy's Music and Film
” Where Joyce particularly excels is in his live performances as punters who have enjoyed The Midnight Union Band gigs will be aware of. He is a confident frontman, who possesses the required intensity and natural ability to immediately engage his audience – not always an easy task.”
LonesomeHighway.com
At an early age, Shane Joyce was influenced by the great songsmiths Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen and the ninety-mile-an-hour writings of beat poets Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg.
At fifteen, he picked up his first guitar… an old nylon string, and soon after the songs started to tumble out of him.
And they have been coming ever since.
Though still strongly influenced by those folk and beat heroes of his past, in recent years, Shane has been able to gain new influence from a multitude of other facets of writing, so that everything from Hemingway to T. S. Eliot to more recent luminaries such as Phosphorescent,Fionn Regan and Laura Marling may muscle their way into Shane's work.
His musical career began by busking on the streets of Kilkenny city, where he was picked up one dreary winters day by bass player Brian McGrath.
Brian had been looking for a singer for his new band and soon Americana/folk group ‘The Midnight Union Band’ was formed. With the band Shane continues to tour and put out records.
To date Shane has toured Ireland, the UK, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Finland and also supported Irish favourite's Mick Flannery and Brian Deady.
In Jan 2018, Hotpress Magazine announced Shane as one of their "one's to watch for 2018"
Shane's much anticipated debut album, "The Sadness Of King Joyce", is set for release on April 9th, 2018.
