Microwaved

Microwaved is the solo electro-industrial music project of Gabe Wilkinson, a musician based
in Des Moines, Iowa (though some sources mention Waterloo, Iowa). Launched in the late
1990s as an outlet for Wilkinson's electronic experiments while he was active in metal and
punk bands, the project draws its name from the Pitchshifter song "Microwaved" (from their
1998 album www.pitchshifter.com). Wilkinson handles all aspects of production himself,
including writing, recording, engineering, and mixing, often collaborating with other artists
in the industrial and electronic scenes. His work blends aggressive industrial rock with
coldwave, machine rock, and electronic elements, frequently incorporating themes of loss,
horror, politics, and personal struggle. Microwaved has built a niche following in the
underground industrial music community, with releases on labels like Produkt 42 and DSBP
Records, and appearances on tribute compilations.
