THE PORTRAITS Biography

"That is so beautiful. It is so powerful. And sitting here watching you do that together is a real privilege. And it's had a real impact. I just think it's the perfect tribute to Jo Cox and everything that she tried to achieve, and is still achieving because of what people do in her memory." CLARE BALDING, BBC RADIO 2, AFTER THE PORTRAITS PLAYED THEIR JO COX TRIBUTE SONG LIVE IN HER BBC RADIO 2 STUDIO ON 23RD APRIL 2017 Anglo-Irish husband and wife Alternative Folk duo Jeremy and Lorraine Millington, a.k.a. The Portraits, released a tribute song in 2016 for Jo Cox MP, Nobody Can Ever Murder Love, that was a call for unity in Jo's name at this time of global instability. The song was championed by Clare Balding on BBC Radio 2 and led to an invitation to the duo to play and talk about the song live on her show in April 2017. The Portraits brought their upbeat sound in 2017 to Weyfest, Wallingford Bunkfest, Liverpool's Folk On The Dock (main stage curated by BBC's Janice Long) and Cornwall Folk Festival amongst other events, their positive message of unity over division, of valuing what we share over our differences, and their stories of the world's forgotten people, proving infectious and leaving audiences moved to tears and laughter in equal measure. Their sound is a warm fusion of folk, music theatre, jazz and classical styles with beautiful harmonies and their material is strongly influenced by their own experiences of travelling the world and encountering its forgotten corners. The Portraits are husband and wife alternative folk duo Jeremy & Lorraine Millington who played the last Glastonbury Fest and have been spun on BBC Radio 2
