Christos DC Biography

Christos DC is a Greek-American, Washington, DC-based artist/producer/touring multi-instrumental musician whose humble force has been influential in shaping the DC reggae scene and beyond. His own recordings, paired with the recordings he has shouldered through his own Honest Music label, with well-known acts such as Sly & Robbie, Thievery Corporation, Akae Beka and grammy nominated icon Don Carlos of Black Uhuru.

Christos’ upcoming album (slated for late July 2017) is entitled Tessera (Greek for “four”). A man known for his ability to reach into the deepest wells of reggae’s talent pools, this release is destined to ride atop the charts. Forwarding a diverse sound, the album includes an emotional cover of Neil Young’s “Heart of Gold,” and “The Desperate Ones” an obscure gem by Nina Simone. Christos also teams up with Akae Beka (Vaughn Benjamin of Midnite) on the impassioned tune “What is Happening” and a powerful anthemic collaboration, “Communion” with Harrison Stafford, the voice of Groundation alongside Kenyatta Hill, son of the legendary Joseph Hill of Culture. Christos’ own heavyweight first single, “Speak the Fire” feat. Zafayah & The Skankin Monks released in April with a video filmed early this year exclusively in Goa, India. As with his previous album Long Road, Christos pays homage to his homeland by covering a classic Greek song in a roots reggae style with epic Horn and flute arrangements entitled Ρολόι κομπολόι (Watch Rosary). Other stand out tunes are the lyrically, bass heavy “Say What You Want” & “Pressure” mixed by dub mixologist Tippy I Alfred of I Grade Records and Zion I Kings collective. The last tune on the album and only instrumental, “Boots and Tie” features Christos playing talk box guitar over a rare Sly and Robbie/ Taxi Gang track originally recorded at Channel One Studios in 1980. "Love is the frequency of which the Creator works through  one another," Christos conveys. ” This is why I make honest music."
