Alfian Emir Adytia Biography
Alfian Emir Adytia (Emir Cello) is an Indonesian performing artist, composer and producer based in the Netherlands. Emir’s stage presence is a captivating blend of bodily ecstasy and spiritual transcendence, creating an immersive and transformative experience for the audience. After graduating with a master's degree in cello classical music from the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague, Emir has forged a dynamic artistic path marked by prolific album releases and cross-disciplinary collaborations. Rooted in his Javanese and Minangkabau roots, his work offers a unique perspective on both historical and contemporary cultural kaleidoscope.
Emir’s music and live performances have graced renowned stages in Southeast Asia, Central Asia, North America and Europe. Since 2021, he was the artist-in-residence at the prestigious International Cello Festival Zutphen, debuted Cello Biennale Amsterdam 2022 with a full-house show in Bimhuis. His accolades include prizes at the Calefax Composers Competition in Amsterdam (2022), the Bartók World Competition for Composition in Budapest (2022), and a feature in Spitfire Audio LABS Community Playlist in London. His artistry continues to challenge imperial cultural narratives while connecting disciplines and traditions.
