About this concert
Das Saisonfinale unserer Reihe Jazz at Berlin Philharmonic trägt den Titel Europeana und erinnert an das Kriegsende und die Befreiung vom Nationalsozialismus vor 80 Jahren – eine jazzige Feier der europäischen Idee. Mit dabei sind die NDR Bigband mit Geir Lysne, die den traditionellen Bigband-Sound kreativ und innovativ in die Gegenwart holen, der legendäre Joachim Kühn am Klavier und das vision string quartet, das ursprünglich aus der klassischen Musik kommt, an diesem Abend aber seine Leidenschaft für Jazz auslebt. Freuen Sie sich außerdem auf atemberaubende Soli von Saxofonistin Émile Parisien und Posaunist Nils Landgren, der auch als Sänger dabei ist.

Winner of the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Competition and the International Concours de Génève, awarded with the Würth Prize and the prestigious chamber music prize of the Jürgen Ponto Foundation.
Founded in 2012 and based in Berlin, the vision string quartet has already established itself as one of the finest young string quartets of its generation. With a unique versatility that focuses on the classical string quartet repertoire alongside their own compositions of other disparate genres, the four young musicians are on a mission to re-address with integrity how classical music is presented and perceived by both new and traditional audiences. In the past few years, the quartet has already given concerts in 27 countries around the world.
