About this concert
A night of sacred Jewish music and song, celebrating the recent release of Abitah, the latest album of renowned composer, singer, and Rabbi Yosef Goldman. Yosef’s music touches the heart and soul. It creates a rich and multilayered soundscape rooted in Middle Eastern vibes with influences ranging from contemporary Israeli chant circles to contemplative jazz, mystical Hasidic niggunim, and psychedelic folk-rock. Co-sponsored by Hadar Rising Song Institute, Romemu and Lab/Shul.

Yosef Goldman Biography
Along with Yoni Avi Battat , Yosef co-founded Kedmah: the Rising Song Piyyut Ensemble, exploring the power and beauty of Mizrahi Jewish expression through sacred poetry and song.
A sought-after vocalist, Yosef performs and records with a wide range of Jewish artists. He is a longtime featured vocalist with Joey Weisenberg and the Hadar Ensemble and a founding member of the Middle Eastern Jewish music ensemble The Epichorus. Along with trombonist Dan Blacksberg, Yosef was selected by the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts for its 2018–19 Jazz Residency.
As an educator, Yosef's teaching facilitates people finding authentic and meaningful experience in Jewish prayer and practice, including singing as an embodied spiritual practice. As a consultant, Yosef advises synagogues and prayer communities seeking to deepen the communal spiritual experience through musical prayer.
Yosef has released three albums on the Rising Song Records Label, including two albums of original music, Open My Heart (2019) and Abitah (2023), which has been described as “a hidden doorway with the power to open the heart gently and deeply, with its elevated spirit; it touches the very root of the soul.”
Simu Lev, Kedmah’s debut album, was released in April 2024.
