After watching a PBS documentary about Johnny Cash, Doug was touched to hear the words “He loved her tenderly” from John Carter Cash about the Cash/Carter marriage and inspired to write the beautiful and heartfelt ballad “June.” Doug’s enormous talents as a singer, musician and dazzling entertainer have audiences applauding his show stopping concerts in theaters, resorts and casinos from coast to coast, including the legendary Caesars Palace on the Las Vegas Strip and The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Nashville’s Opryland Hotel, Cutting Room in NYC and The Taj Mahalin Atlantic City. Wendy has the highest praise for Patsy Cline: “To me, she is one of the greatest singers of all time, in any genre.” Wendy has always appreciated June Carter Cash as “A great entertainer...very funny and energetic...with a lightness and sense of fun that was the perfect balance to her more serious husband.” The talented and vivacious brunette who first met Doug when she auditioned for the June Carter Cash duets on his best-selling CD, AMERICAN ICON: JOHNNY CASH TRIBUTE, will join him as “June” to his “Johnny” with the Cash classics “Jackson,” “Long Legged Guitar Pickin’ Man,” “It Ain’t Me Babe” and “Help Me Make It Through The Night.” Wendy’s “Most magical night” was her Grand Ole Opry debut in 2000, singing “Changing Of The Guard” on the occasion of the Opry’s 75th Anniversary. She is married to the outstanding Nashville musician David Spicher who joins her on the upright bass during their frequent performances at the Nashville Palace and Robert’s Western World. The Spicher family is legendary in Nashville! Wendy’s father-in-law is the renowned fiddle player Buddy Spicher who has performed with Country Music icons Loretta Lynn, Crystal Gayle, Ray Price, and dozens more. He can also be heard on thousands of recordings going back to the ‘60’s, ‘70’s, and ‘80’s. Wendy is also related through marriage to Pam Tillis, daughter of the late great Mel Tillis.
