About this concert
Duik in een onvergetelijke muzikale belevenis op 18 mei te midden van de dynamische vibes van het Skatepark. De Storioni Soloists, een waanzinnig getalenteerde groep masterstudenten van Nederlandse conservatoria, staan klaar om Max Richter’s ‘4 Seasons recomposed’ nieuw leven in te blazen. Stel je voor: de tijdloze klanken van Vivaldi’s meesterwerk, maar dan in een fris jasje gestoken met invloeden uit pop- en filmmuziek. Het wordt een muzikale reis die je niet wilt missen!
En alsof dat nog niet genoeg is, gaan we daarna verder de urban wereld in. Saxofonist Ties Mellema en de UC Masters nemen je mee op een reis door de connectie tussen klassiek en hiphop met hun performance van PEAX. Verwacht een grensverleggende mix van stijlen die je hart sneller zal laten kloppen. Maar we beginnen de avond op een intieme noot met ‘Those secret Eyes’ van de jonge Britse componiste Charlotte Bray. Het is de Nederlandse première voor dit pianotrio, en het belooft een betoverende start van de avond te worden.
Dus, urban muziekliefhebber en cross-over enthousiasteling, zet 18 mei in je agenda en mis dit spektakel niet. Het wordt een avond vol muziek die je meevoert naar nieuwe hoogten, en dat alles op de meest onverwachte, maar perfecte locatie: het Skatepark. Be ready to be amazed!

PEAX Biography
PEAX creates a whole new universe using a synthesis of musical styles. Ties Mellema and Barry Jurjus’s profound love of musical diversity leads to compositions that resonate with the contemporary world.
Having been trained as classical musicians, Barry and Ties decided it was time they made their own music. Music unlimited by the boundaries of the concert hall, yet still deeply rooted in classical structures. PEAX, a formation with a global perspective, finds its inspiration in the multifaceted nature of modern society. Seamlessly blending the essence of minimal music with the contagious energy of dance, adding African beats, Latin rhythms and the electric vigour of drum and bass, PEAX both invigorates the listener and provides them room for reflection.
PEAX either plays their music with high energy, featuring an immersive sound and infectious grooves, getting the audience up on their feet, or tranquilly explores musical colours and emotions, beautiful melodies, positioning intensity versus contemplation in a more contrasting performance. Or else PEAX curate an experience called ALL EARS, providing
a personalised perspective on events that vary significantly in terms of sound, emotion, acoustics, and direction, evoking the sensation of being in a dream.
Ties Mellema has an Eppelsheim bass saxophone on loan from the collection of The Dutch Musical Instruments Foundation and plays Légère Reeds.
