Class of 91 Biography
Ottawa’s Class of 91 writes songs about challenges in the human story, offered up in a sonic design that has been described as a guitar-forward mix of indie rock, punk, and early 90s alternative in the Bob Mould tradition (Adam White, Some Party).
Formed in the summer of 2019, the band — Ian Ferguson, Brock Sarault, Fred Pantalone Jr. and Steve Clifford — completed their sophomore effort Eyes on Fire just as the COVID19 pandemic shut the world down. The band’s personal experiences during the pandemic, coupled with dizzying world events, informed their second EP Lost Stories released in 2022. Produced by Ferguson and Clifford at the band’s home studio in Ottawa, and mastered by Kristian Montano (Kali Horse, Daniel Romano) in Toronto, Lost Stories explores human conflict, mental health, and duality as its prevailing themes.
Class of 91 has become a regular in the Ottawa independent music scene, and recently released two new tracks “Broken Window”, “a heartfelt alt-rock powerhouse, maintaining realism and striking emotional songwriting” (RCM UK Music Blog), and “Burn Down”. Listen wherever you stream music!
